Events did not progress according to my planning.
Hoofbeats woke me from a dreamless slumber.
Reif had been sharing accommodations with me and told me to get dressed after a short discussion with Connor at the entrance of the tent.
When ready to travel, I found that Windshine was waiting for me with the other horses.
*Hi. It is a surprise to find you here. Was Habieb not supposed to take you on patrol?*
*He did* the horse replied. *We ran into some trouble and Habieb was injured.*
From the picture I received from the horse's mind, Cudrl was involved and it was not a pretty sight.
Not wasting time on useless questions, we sped our way back to the Palace.
Moira asked a sleepy question of where I was rushing off to. I replied by asking her to meet me at the Palace the next day. Perceiving no threat to my person, she promptly slipped back into sleep.
Ishmay received us at the Palace doors, immediately leading us to the sickbay, adjacent to my private quarters.
Ishmay made haste, in a hurry to bring Reif up to speed with the situation. "We have some Elfen healers in attendance, including Raico, but their injuries are grave and I am not convinced that we are going to save all of them."
There were six people on beds being attended to by various healers. Reif went to Brutus first. He seemed to have received only cuts and bruises.
Habieb was at the furthest end of the ward, Raico standing beside him.
Looking up at me, Raico frowned, his initial response not one of recognition. This was followed by a weak smile when he recognized the boy in the young man before him.
"I have tried in the way you have shown me, but I do not possess the skill to mend his body" Raico said, making space for me to work on my friend.
Habieb was in dire straits, with only a miracle that could save him. Knowing that my body has grown not only in physical form, but in energy skills as well, I softly woke Moira to achieve the blend that allowed me to see more than only energy or human sight.
Within the blend I also had availability to the Leilakan Huracan healing powers.
Removing Habieb's bandages gave me a better perspective of the damage to his chest cavity. One of the Cudrl's Pangi's had just missed his heart.
It was a similar wound as I had received the first time I had faced Cudrl.
Cupping my hands over the wound, I allowed the golden healing energies that imbued everything around us to be channelled into the gaping gash.
Slowly the bleeding stopped, and soon the tissue started mending as if by magic.
I kept the healing energy running until the skin had closed, leaving only a scar indicating where the injury used to be.
Checking the rest of Habieb's body, I allowed the energy to flow through him, replenishing lost blood, killing off infection, stimulating the growth of new cells wherever needed.
This also helped to drain the emotional turmoil and shock to the body of the events that had triggered this senseless mutilation.
When I felt satisfied that Habieb would wake up feeling wonderful, I made sure to place him under a mild sleeping spell in order for his body to heal completely.
