"I'm Fiona."
Fate has really been good to me. I never thought that I will meet her. I never thought I will meet the girl I envy the day I saw her with Calum.
"I-uh-I saw you with Calum." I stuttered. She looked at me like she saw a ghost. "Oh, r-really?" she said, also stuttering. "I never thought someone would actually know me like this, reading a book just in a corner." she said. "Three years." she added, making me give her a skeptical look. "What's with three years?"
We walked downtown to go the park that I really admired. I never knew that she also knew the park I have been going for weeks now if I don't have someone to talk to or well, I should say that I shout all the pain I put on my heart for a long time.
"Three lovely years," Fiona started, as we sat on the grass there. She was beautiful, her brown hair cascading softly in the back. No doubt, all the guys that we passed was looking at her. She as intimately beautiful. "Calum saw me right then and there, at the spot where you found me, he looked at me like he saw a cute puppy on the way." she chuckled, making her even more happy to be with. "I was reading a book, this," she held the book right her hands. "This book was the same as what I was reading when he first saw me. He knew from the start that I was clumsy, so, the old book that I was reading, much exactly soaked on coffee. He bought me another edition of it as a gift. Calum is a thoughtful, awesome and cool guy." she breathed. "He introduced me to his band mates, to his family, even me and Mali became good friends." Little did I know she was already crying, tears welling up her eyes. "But then, I crashed our relationship." she looked at me and gave me a sad smile. "I was so numb about my feelings back then. Like, it's not that I loved him, yes, he was so sweet. But, Ally," she paused and held my hand. "You're lucky you met him."
Hearing Fiona and Calum's story was a heck of tears. They have been through, what can I say? Thick and thin. I really felt how inlove were they, back then. I just don't know the reason why she broke up with him.
"I'm l-lucky? H-how could y-you say that?" Again, I am stuttering at her. What the fuck is in my mouth to stutter at her? She's your friend. Wait, did I just say friend? "Yeah, he always tells me about you." she spoke, taking me back to my senses. "And you know what, it's like Calum's making me and I'm jealous." she pouted. We both laughed at the situation. "Don't let that dork slip away, Ally. You two are perfect for each other." she smiled at me, making me smile too. "But, the thing is, me and Calum are not yet officially together. We are not yet even talking for about a week, so. That's too complicated." I said, she gave me an are-you-serious look.
"What? Oh my God, he owes me ten bucks!" she cheered. "Are you betting? I mean, are you saying that he said that we are together?" I said, making her go back to reality. "Yeah, he even said that if I found out that he is not telling the truth, he'll give me ten bucks. He's such a dork. But, your dork to be exact."
The sound of "your dork" is like music and it sounded so good to my ears. This is the first time, after two years of being heartbroken? I felt like everything was so normal. Everything sounded surreal. I felt the weight of the world became light at my foot. I can say that everything can be okay at a span of time.
"Thank you for sharing your story to me, Fiona. I knew why Calum was sad and doesn't have the energy to talk to me. I think, he still loves you." Fiona gave me a look that I can't point out. "No!" she screamed. "He doesn't love me anymore. His eyes are on you. I mean, look at you. You are beautiful. You are one of a kind. I admire you for being like yourself, Ally. You're strong, not like me. I just gave a up a relationship that's worth the content of a book." she finished. "But," she spoke again. "Calum doesn't love me anymore. It's been so long since I last saw him. He already changed. I can't change the future. So," she patted my shoulders. "Please, take care of him for me? I still love him, but not the love I showed him for the past three fucking years. Make him the happiest bass player in the planet. Okay?" Fiona smiled. Making me grin. "Okay. I wish that someday or somehow, I'll bump at you again and see you with someone you love. Someone who will make you happy. Just like what Calum did."
Little did I know, the next thing I did was I hugged her. I felt the need to do this. Not because I feel bad for what she had been through. But, because she is a nice person. "You'll be okay, yeah?" I said. Making her smile. "I hope so." Fiona muttered.
I stood up and hugged her again. "So, can we be friends?" I held my hand to her. She giggled. "Of course we can!" she pulled me in again for a hug. "I better get going, it's getting late and there might be someone who'll crash into my flat." I said to her, jokingly. "Yeah. I'll sta here for a little while. Get my mind off stress." she said. "It's so nice meeting you, Fiona. Be safe, yeah? I'll be going. Bye!" I hugged her again and went off the exit to the park. "Bye, Ally! Hope to see you again soon."
This feeling was a new one. It made me feel that I had butterflies in my stomach, or a soft mellow of the air breeze that hit my skin, made me feel okay.
Being friends with Fiona was a dream. A dream that I didn't know that would happen. This day was one of the best. I will always treasure this day.
I got home half past midnight, and I felt the need to sleep early.
This was new. I thought about him. I thought about Calum. Maybe Fiona was right.
Calum really is an awesome guy.
