hey,
well
uh
yeah I got nothing new to say, just the usual.
* * * *
"yes I am" Ed said simply.
" well uh, we should pro-" I started before Ed cut me off.
" you want a photo or something? im happy too as long as you ladies don't tell anyone im here" he chuckled as the women nodded with goofy smiles slapped across their faces.
" Lanie, can you take the photos?" Ed said as he handed me a pink phone and a black phone. I fumbled with the phones as Ed and the first woman, Linda got into position.
"say cheese" I said cheekily, and they both smiled with their arms around each others shoulders. I did the same for Jane and then they announced that they had to finish their street calls, I handed them back their phones and they waved goodbye and left.
" well, that made their day" I said as I shut the door with my foot, carrying one of the two boxes, Ed with the other.
" James!" I called from the kitchen. I saw his little face appear from around the corner of the doorframe, followed by the rest of him as he skipped towards me holding a toy car. Sam's toy car.
"what are you up to mister" I said, although I was feeling slightly upset because that was Sam's first car.
"playing car" he said in a what-does-it-look-like tone.
" of course you are" I smiled and looked over at Ed who was poking his around in the boxes we were given.
"what's in them?" I said as Ed pulled open the other box.
"uh, there's food, a lot of it, blankets, socks, and....stuff" He said awkwardly closing the box he opened.
" what's stuff?" I asked curiously.
" uh....girl stuff" he said, his cheeks becoming red.
"oh, well that could come in handy" I chuckled making him blush harder than before.
"uh yeah" he said quietly.
As the day rolled on, Ed and I settled down with James and played with Sam's old toys, I didn't mind so much anymore. Ed found Sam's rather large collection of Lego and his face lit up like a kid in a candy store as he sifted through the box, pulling out the pieces he needed to build a house. James built what he said was a dog, but it looked more like a colorful tree with odd branches.
"im gonna pick up the pieces and build a Lego house" Ed sung quietly to himself, his voice was so beautiful when your sitting right next to him.
"if things go wrong we can knock it down!" James squealed, I was amazed that he knew this song, because he was so young.
"That's awesome mate!" Ed congratulated him for his singing efforts and we both laughed as he started singing another song.
"James what's that song?" I asked as he sung a tune, which seemed to be in a different language.
"mummy teached me" he said, his toddler grammar shining through. "its a Fwench song" he added, Ed and I both had our jaws dropped in amazement. Its not often you find a three year old that can sing in French.
