James and I were now alone in Ed's mansion he called a house. Ed had gone on his one month tour in America and it was now one week since he had said his goodbyes. James missed his "dad" and on the day Ed had left we got a call saying Stu had given us full custody of James, meaning he was basically our son. "mum? whens daddy coming back" James asked as we sat at the table eating toast fingers and making plans for the day. "three weeks, twenty one days" I replied, dipping a piece of bread into the egg yolk which dripped onto the table as I lifted it away. "oh, is that when uncle Stu will be back too?" he said with a little squeak at the end of his sentence, "yeah baby, do you wanna go swimming today?" I asked as I flicked through todays weather report on the laptop. "YES!" he squealed, clasping his hands together and wriggling in his seat with excitement.

James ran off down the hall to his room and picked out his swimming shorts and a towel from the closet as I got myself out of my pajamas and into cotton shorts and a large t shirt. I was packing my swim suit and towel when my phone rung. without even bothering to check the caller I.D I answered.

"hullo?" I said with a yawn. "Babe its me" Ed said sweetly, I instantly smiled as his voice swam around in my mind. "hey! hows it going?" I said enthusiastically, although I was missing him like crazy. "its great! I just finished a show in New York, so im about to go to bed" he said, I was a bit jealous really, he was able to go to all the places I've wanted to go for years. "that's awesome, james and I are swimming today" I said, as James appeared carrying his swim bag with a struggle. "oh yeah well it really late here and I have a ton of interviews before the show, ill catcha tomorrow love" he said and I felt sad for a second, knowing he wasn't here with me "yeah sure, love you babe, see yah" I said "bye love" he said.

James and I w2alked into the towns local swimming pool and got changed. "which one baby?" I asked as we were confronted with three pools, all of which looked quite inviting. "that one" James replied as he pointed his little finger towards the spa. " you like the hot ones?" I asked him and he nodded. we walked around to the spa and walked slowly down the stairs, I held him above the water as I walked to the corner of the pool on an empty seat. James sat on my knee and we both indulged in the heat that the water offered us, just whispering little sentences to each other occasionally. James pushed his feet above the surface on the water and wiggled his toes, making an older couple laugh as he giggled to himself. They joined in his game, poking their toes above the water, and before long the small group of people that accompanied us in the spa were all playing James' game.

"james, we're gunna go now" I said as he lay his head back on my shoulder. "okay mummy" he said and a few people looked me weirdly, probably because I was so young, if he was mine I would've given birth at the age of fourteen.

"good boy" I said. I lifted him up and carried him over to the steps and we walked back around to the change rooms and got dressed. as I was dressing james some other teenage girls came in and stared at me, whispering and pointing at james. "mum?" James said. "yeah?" I replied. "can we bring daddy here when he gets back from merica?" He asked and the girls who were whispering looked at me shocked like I wasn't allowed to have a man in my life. "yeah when daddy gets back from tour" I said a little loud so the girls could shove what they said up their own arses. "is daddy gunna sing the lego house song?" james said, and it gave me the chance to rub it in some more, "yeah, we can ask him if he has when he rings tonight" I said, looking over at the girls who now had their jaws dropped. I smirked at them and grabbed James' hand, pushing past them as we began our walk home.

I unlocked the door and James raced past, throwing his bag in the laundry as he made his way to his room. he came out again with his toy cars and sat on the floor of the living room, humming an off pitch version of lego house, his obvious favorite. listening to him sing in his little toddler voice made me giggle to myself as I remembered the face of all of those girls when James asked questions about Ed. I got a fright as my phone buzzed in my bra and I pulled it out immediately, the caller I.D said " corey, your rescuer <3" the same name he wrote the day we met. "hey babe" I said, a smile sweeping across my face. "hey, hows it going?" he said "good, how bout you?" I asked. "im good, onmy way to an interview so cant be long" he said, "oh yeah, well I totally bummed these girls at the pool" I said as I smiled bigger. "oh yeh? How?" he asked and I began to giggle. "They we're whispering about me being a young single mum and then James asks when you're coming back so I take the chance and say when your tour is over and they stand there like dead fish" I laugh, he chuckles and I hear someone tell him to hurry up. "hey, well I gotta go now, tell james I love him, talk soon " he said and he hung up, leaving me smiling like an idiot in the middle of the kitchen.

James and I sat down for our dinner and I was thinking about the morning Ed and I had sex in the janitors closet at the hospital, it sounded like something out of a teen movie, but really it was just pure love. why I was thinking of this was unknown but it just seemed to make me crave him more. James finished his dinner miles before me so I decided to flag it and get him bathed and ready for bed.

I lay him down and we read a bedtime story, the little yellow digger. (that's a cute book) I kissed him goodnight and decided to have an early night of my own, I climbed into bed and snuggled down. " goodnight Ed" I whispered to myself.
