"you chose one, and ill chose one" I said to Ed as we gazed upon our daughters. I had decided that since there was two, Ed could decide on a name for one of our girls and I would choose the other. "i really like the name Estella" Ed said, breaking the awkward silence between us "i had a crush on a girl called Estella in  primary school" he added, smiling at me goofily. "that's beautiful" I breathed, I was actually pleased with his name selection, I was glad he didn't choose something ridiculous. "found one you like for her?" he asked me as he gently stroked Estella's hair. I was staring at the smaller of the two babies with intent focus, finding something that would suit her tiny body. " yeah, I have" I said in an accidental whisper. "what is it?" Ed asked, looking at me with great seriousness as I smiled slightly. "Iris" I said simply, it was a delicate name for a baby, but it suited her perfectly. "Iris is flower right?" Ed asked, I nodded and he did too, letting me know he liked the name "its perfect" he whispered.

Ed and I were told we had to leave, as the girls were getting their dressing changed. when I saw them for the first time, I was shocked at the size of the scars that would be left on their chests, although I was relieved that they both made it out the other end of the theatre with no complications. "Ed?" I said as we wandered back down the corridor. "yeah love?" he replied quietly, averting his gaze upwards to meet my eyes. "did you want to be a dad?" I asked nervously, I was unaware of how he felt, i mean i was shocked when I gave birth in a forest, i cant imagine how he felt delivering his own daughter unexpectedly on his sofa. "i wasn't expecting it so soon" he started, and i felt like he was going to leave me for his job. "but when I stayed with you and James, i felt like James was my own son and it made me feel all fuzzy" he smiled, lacing his fingers around mine, our hands gently swinging back and forth as we walked. "so i am now a daddy of three, at twenty three" he chuckled. "hey, im only seventeen" i pointed out, "its not often a seventeen year old has three kids" i said, Ed looked at me with a adoring look, " but you're an amazing mum so far" he said and he pulled me closer, so our hips banged together.

Just as Ed and I got back to our room, Ed's phone began to ring. He answered it and it was Stu. Ed put him on speaker as requested "hello" he said and we both greeted him warmly, it had been two days since he came to get James. " how are the girls?" he asked, a smile spread across my face. "they're doing great, we should have them home in two weeks" i said beaming, the doctors said they were the strongest premature babies they'd performed heart surgery on in a long time. "that's great to hear, Ed what's it like being a father huh?" he chuckled and Ed frowned at the phone "its wonderful, they're beautiful" he said matter of factly. "good good, listen James wants to come and see you" Stu said and Ed smiled, he had missed having James around. "yeah sure, bring him up" Ed said and i nodded "yeah do that".

Stu and James arrived less than fifteen minutes later and James burst in "mummy, daddy!" he squealed and he ran to us, trying to wrap us both in a hug at the same time. " missed you lots" he said seriously, where's my sisters?" he added, smiling form ear to ear, we had Stu explain to him that he was now a big brother. "come see baby" i said and Ed lifted him up as we made out way back to nursery. "what's the names?" Stu asked as we washed our hands before entering. "Estelle and Iris" Ed said proudly, he was quite proud of his choice. "that's nice, didn't you have a crush on an Estelle?" Stu laughed and Ed nodded truthfully "that's why i chose it" he said.

we were allowed into the room which houses our girls and James ran to the cribs, his eyes looking from one to the other, obviously debating which one to look into first. "hello baby" he whispered as he stared into Estelle's crib, his nose pressed against the glass, just like the airport. "that's Estella Jamesie" i said as he stared at her, I bent down next to him. "Stella" he said, i giggled because he missed out the E. " yeah, and that one is Iris" i said, pointing to the second crib. "hello Iris" he said as he again pressed his nose to the glass that separated them. "James come here" i said, he came towards me and stood, not taking his eyes off his sisters. "put your hand in and touch her hand" i said to James and he did so, gently touching her tiny hand, making his hands look like giants. "be gentle remember" i said as he touched her hair, scruffing it up a little roughly. he stopped and pulled his hand away. "sorry mummy" he said. "its okay, you just gotta be gentle" I said and i hugged him tightly." can uncle Stu try that too?" Stu asked and in nodded. He put his hand in the hole and ran a finger over Iris's head, passing her hair though two of his fingers. she reached up with her tiny hand and grabbed his fingers, her fingers wrapping around his thumb. " you are a beautiful girl" he whispered to her, Ed and I looked at each other and smiled as Stu displayed his maternal side, which we didn't know he had. "they're identical" i said as he did the same to Estelle, his fingers making hers look tiny. "i can see that, what's their weights?" he asked, "they're tiny" he added. "Estelle was three pounds seven and Iris was three pound two ounces" i said. "wow that's little" he said, continuing to stroke her head.

" I am a big brother now" James said proudly.

"you are indeed little man" i said, 'you're the best big brother too" i said.

"The best" Ed said as we all gazed upon our two beautiful girls.
