"You're not going to tell the others, are you?" He whispered in my ear.

Be both sat on the edge of the bathtub and talked. Talked about the situation.

"Why would I?" I asked and looked at him.

"Because I don't know if you really trust me with this. You could just walk out of that door, wake all the others up and tell them what happened half an hour ago."
"And am I doing it?"
"Not at the moment, no" he said quietly.

"See. I just need to get used to all of this"
"take all the time you need"

The sad look in his red glowing eyes sent shivers through my spine. I was thinking about just grabbing his hands and holding them in mine but right before my fingers brushed his silver skin, he stood up and walked towards the foggy window to open it. »shit«

"You okay there?" I asked carefully and followed him.
"Hmm" he hummed.

Per rested his head in his palms and watched the wind making the leaves dance. "How long do you need to stay in your 'ghoul form' so that you are able to transform back?" I asked quite interested.

"I could possibly transform back right now but then I couldn't stay long in that form in which you got no know me"

Per turned around to look at me but the only thing I saw was a weak smile and exhausted eyes.

"Are you okay? Serious answers only. Cause you really seem like you're absolutely not."
"That may be the truth but you don't have to know that"
"okay- Per tell me what's wrong"

I slowly stepped closer to the window. "I'm just-" he hesitated before continuing. "I'm just really happy that you reacted like this and not in a different way. I was scared to lose you and in that very moment when you saw me like this for the first time I thought i would've lost you. But now here you are, standing in front of me and not reacting anywhere near like I thought you would"

After those words I couldn't resist hugging him anymore. "My god and I thought I was an overthinker" I cupped his warm cheeks in my hands and looked at him with a smile on my lips while he had his hands wrapped around my waist.

His skin felt warm and comforting on mine. The feeling of being save came over me once again.

"Do you know that red eyes really suit you?" I said to break the silence.
"Yeah, kinda" Per answered and did not let go of me.
"God I love you're confidence. Gimme some of that"
"you're not confident? Dude I always thought that you're the most confident friend I have" "it's called pretending my dude. I'm good at that. Always have been"

I let go of him and turned around to look at the street which was lit up by lanterns but froze immediately as I saw something hiding behind the hedge which surrounded the garden.

"And lying yeah yeah yeah. Well you have to be good at those two things when you live in a household like I do. And-"
"Psst." I cut him off and raised my hand as a sign for him to stay quiet.

"What"
"Psst! Don't talk too loud. Do you see that?" I pulled him right next to me but didn't point at it since I tried to make it inconspicuous. But of course Per looked in that direction where thing was hiding, like someone who tries to look on your phone screen inconspicuously while literally holding a pair of binoculars. Right as it saw that my best friend was looking for it, it ducked away.

"I don't see anything"
"that's because this someone ducked away as soon as you tried to look for them like someone who lost their glasses while they sat on the head."
"A person?"
"Yeah. A really tall one though. Looked like they had messy hair. But I saw nothing more. And they were staring directly at us or I think at you cuz, ya know."
"Did you see them run away?"
"Noo?"
