Sodo pov

I sat together with y/n in the dining room at the long dark table in the middle, waiting for them to finish their toast. Warming sunbeams dug their way through the white curtains, lighting up the area as the clock chimed 10 am.

It was silent

It was silent. No one was speaking, laughing, shouting. This was unusual. Also that we were the only ones in the dining room because normally its the time we all have breakfast together. But since y/n and I got here not a single ghoul entered. It was quiet. Too quiet.

"What's wrong? You seem worried and now don't say 'I'm fine' because I can clearly tell that something is not right" Y/n said as they propped up their head on the table. A pair of beautiful (color) eyes stared into mine as they searched for something unknown to me.

"I don't know. I just have a weird feeling in my stomach like something could happen anytime. This church feels so different since early this morning. It is so empty." I explained with furrowed eyebrows.

"Empty?"

"Yeah. The only one I saw today was Rain and we would normally have breakfast at this time in this room but no one came in here. No even a maid or the cook. Its so weird. Aether is always the first one to come in here and wait for the food. But now its just us two" I said and scratched the back of my neck.

"Well I don't have a problem with that but maybe he doesn't feel well? Also- do you know if he called the police yesterday?" y/n asked and put our dishes on a little cart that always stood next to the big door.

"Im sure he did. Aether is fully reliable when it comes to such things." I said, stood up and walked out of the door, y/n following me.

No one was out one the hallways. Not even sisters of sin. Still I felt watched. Like the walls were persons, looking at my movements. Maybe it was also the ceiling. Or the building in general. Like it was alive, noticing everything we were doing. Hearing every word, seeing every motion, smelling every smell.

»buildings can't be alive, Sodo« I thought. That's what my head said. Different to my stomach.

»you are always being watched. No matter where or who you are. No matter if you are alone or with friends«

Two different parts of my body working against each other, trying to get the upper hand.

My hand stroked the side of my pocket as we walked. The sketch from earlier was safe in there so that no one could take it. I needed to show this to Copia as soon as he's back. But when? How long will it take? His phone was turned off so calling or texting him wasn't a solution. I felt helpless.

"Where are we going?" y/n asked and tried to keep up with me. Just then I noticed that I had no idea. I didn't pay attention to the surroundings. I just walked.

We were close to the library so I could use that as an excuse but should I lie to y/n? I didn't want to.

"I- uhm. I don't know"
