!Tw: mentions of murders and deaths!
"This way is a shortcut" Y/n informed us and turned right. It was a narrow alley with tall houses left and right. It looked way darker than the rest of the city. Empty and kind of.. dead. Creepy almost.
"This part looks terrifying." Laura mumbled and walked closer to Niko. He didn't notice it though. "Well yeah, also murders happened here, that's why you shouldn't walk alone. Not in this part of the city. Nobody lives here anymore, that's what makes it look so grey and dead. But as long as you're not walking alone here at night, you're good, nothings gonna happen. But when it is night or just dark in general, do not, I repeat, do not be here on your own and take the longer way around this area. It doesn't even matter if it's day or not, I wouldn't take this path when I'm alone. Just avoid it. It's too dangerous"
Murders? My stomach turned around multiple times at the thought that right there, where we were walking, dead people laid. Blood all over the walls of the houses and floor. Human blood. Yummy.
„Wow. When did all of this start?" Rain asked, interested in the case. „About six months ago. Like exactly six months ago. We three have a guess that these murders happen in a pattern but we're not sure. Every month one death. Same time, same place. But what the police didn't notice is that each murder happens at a full moon night. They have not found out yet who it is or who it could possibly be. There are cameras all around here" Niko paused and pointed at hidden recorders. Well they weren't that hidden because the reflection of the lenses could be seen.
Cos: "that's smart. How did you notice that it always happens on a full moon night?" He asked curiously.
"I shift a lot, if you know what that means" Eli answered. "No sorry, no idea what that is" Rain stated. "shifting involves doing different 'rituals' aka methods to move your consciousness into an alternative desired reality, or DR for short, where you can go literally anywhere, real or imagined. You don't necessarily need a method, but it helps or just makes it easier." The girl explained.
"Isn't that like Lucid dreaming?" I asked because that's what it sounded to me.
"Definitely not. As the name already said, Lucid dreaming is dreaming but shifting is moving your consciousness in a different reality, universe, whatever you wanna call it. It feels real. Like real real. The same as right now." "So you're saying I could just touch a leaf and it would feel the same in that desired reality?" This was one of the many questions I wanted to ask. It sounded so unreal to me. How was this possible? More realities than this one? Can you shift to Hogwarts? What does the process feel like? Is it easy? How long does it take? And so on.
"Exactly! As I said, it feels no different to this reality. Anyways, the full moon effects this shifting thing. Better said it makes you stronger and with that easier to shift if you can say it like that. And shifters often use the power of the full moon which holds on for the week after but especially on that day when the moon is.. full. And of course the murder was in the newspaper right the next day and with that I noticed that it always happened at a full moon." "Have you already shifted?" I walked over to Elis side to understand her better.
The others seemed less interested in shifting than the murders happening at the moment so that's why Cos and Laura didn't stop asking Nik about it. Y/n walked right next to me and I definitely did not mind that.
"Yes I did a lot of times now actually. I first started shifting when I was twelve and now I'm almost eighteen which sounds crazy. It took a while for me to shift for the first time but once you did it's all worth it. I promise. It's a dream coming true. The best experience of your life." "I'm sorry for asking so many questions but this topic is kind of very interesting" I apologized.
