Isabelle’s Perspective
Knock! Knock!
I turned my head toward the door, frowning. Who could it be? I wasn’t expecting anyone. "Who's knocking at the door? Come in," I called out without much thought. The door opened, and a young maid stepped inside, bowing slightly. She looked nervous, almost like she was scared to disturb me. "Hello, ma’am," she greeted politely. I raised an eyebrow. Ma’am? Seriously? I wasn’t used to people addressing me so formally. "Yes? Do you need something?" I asked, sitting up on the bed. "Ma’am…" she hesitated before continuing. "Sir asked me to show you some dresses on his laptop. You can choose whatever you like, and you may also pick gifts for your friend." I blinked, my mind processing her words. The fuck? Who the hell did Luca think he was? Did he seriously believe he could buy me with his money? That he could control me by throwing expensive gifts my way? "What?" I said, my voice sharper than intended. The maid lowered her head slightly. "Yes, ma’am. If you allow me, I can show you." I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes. "Well, I don’t want anything." She shifted uncomfortably. "Ma’am… sir wouldn’t be happy if you refuse. Please cooperate." I let out a deep sigh, rubbing my temples.
Great. Just great. Luca always had a way of getting what he wanted, whether it was through force or manipulation. I wasn’t stupid—I knew that if I wanted to stay on his good side, I had to play along. At least for now. "Ugh, fine," I muttered. "Let’s sit on the bed." The maid visibly relaxed and quickly moved toward the laptop, placing it in front of me. I glanced at her, suddenly curious. "What’s your name?" She looked up, surprised by my question. "My name is Nancy." "Oh, nice name," I said with a small smile. "Nancy, you look really young. I’d guess you’re around seventeen?" She shook her head. "No, ma’am. I will be eighteen soon." "Oh, so you’re just a year younger than me." She nodded, keeping her gaze down, as if unsure whether she should be talking to me like this. I frowned slightly. "Nancy, you don’t have to be afraid of me. You can talk to me freely. And call me Izzy." She hesitated before nodding. "Okay… Izzy." I smiled, hoping she would relax a little. "So, tell me… how is your boss with you?" I asked because I had a feeling Luca wasn’t as kind to his employees as he pretended to be. I wanted to hear the truth from someone who worked for him. Nancy’s expression softened.
"Izzy… he’s the best boss I could ever ask for." I raised an eyebrow, surprised. Really? "We all live together like a family," she continued. "Boss takes care of us." Something about the way she said it made me pause. "My case is different from others," she added, her voice quieter. I tilted my head. "What do you mean?" She glanced at me before answering. "I was an orphan. Sir took me in. He takes care of me and makes sure I have everything I need." She smiled slightly. "Luna, you’re really lucky to have a mate like him." Wait. What? My whole body tensed. "Sorry, what did you just say?" I asked, my heart pounding.
Nancy’s eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head. "Oh—I mean, you’re really lucky to have a boyfriend like him." I narrowed my eyes. "Why did you call me Luna?" She stammered. "Uhh-uhh… because you look like the moon! And Luna means moon. Simple!" I didn’t believe her. Something was definitely off. Everyone in this house acted weird. There were too many secrets. I thought back to when Luca had called me Luna in Colombia. He had brushed it off, but now Nancy was using the same word. What did it actually mean? Nancy quickly changed the subject. "So, Izzy, I think we should start looking for dresses." I let it slide for now, but I wasn’t going to forget it. I scrolled through the website, looking for something casual for both me and Jessica. But then, an idea formed in my mind. If Luca wants to spoil me with his money, I should take full advantage of it. After all, he was keeping me against my will—I deserved some compensation. "Hey, Nancy, do you want anything?" I asked, my eyes still on the screen. She blinked in surprise. "Uh—no, ma’am."
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, don’t be shy. Tell me what you want. Here, take the laptop." I pushed it toward her. Her hands trembled slightly as she hesitated. "But ma’am…"
