Isabelle's Perspective

Knock knock!

I froze, my heart racing as the soft sound echoed in the quiet room. I wasn’t expecting anyone, and the sudden interruption only made me more anxious. "May I come in, Luna?" A gentle voice called from the other side of the door. Luna? Who was that? I stepped aside, and the door creaked open. An older woman entered, holding a tray of food in her hands. She had kind eyes, but her nervous smile made me even more uncomfortable. "Good evening, Luna!" She said.  "Um, are you talking to me? My name is Isabelle, not luna, " I asked, my voice shaky. She blinked, clearly flustered. "Oh, my bad. What a beautiful name."Thank you," I replied, unsure of what was going on but trying to stay calm. The woman placed the tray on the bed. My stomach growled as I saw the food—a steaming steak with fries and a fresh salad. It smelled so good, but the overwhelming sense of panic still clouded my mind.

"Mmmm, Lu—I mean, Izzy, can you eat this? If you want something, let me know. I am here," she said, her voice soft and kind. “Uh, are you staying with me while I eat?” I asked, already feeling uncomfortable by the idea. "Sorry, Luna, it's your meal. I can't do that," she replied, clearly confused by my request. "Okay, well, I’m not going to eat alone. You have to eat, or I’ll tell your boss," I said with a wide smile on my face, trying to sound as sweet as possible. She hesitated. "Oh no, Lu—I mean, Isabelle, please don’t tell sir." Her voice was shaky. "Okay, then eat with me," she agreed, sitting down beside me.
I felt a small sense of relief as we both dug into the meal. It was comforting to eat something familiar, but the fact that she called me "Luna" instead of my name kept nagging at me. "You’re so kind-hearted," she said, after a few moments of silence. I smiled weakly. "Well, it’s nothing. It’s just my habit." After we finished the meal, the woman stood up to collect the plates.

"Ummm, listen, could you please leave the door open?" I asked, suddenly feeling trapped. "I started panicking. I don’t feel good when the doors and windows are closed." Her eyes widened slightly. "Isabelle , sir will not be happy," she said, her tone warning me. I had to think quickly. "But Luca said I could have a tour of the house after dinner. If you don’t trust me, you can call him," I added, using my best puppy eyes to convince her. "Okay, I am going to keep the door open," she agreed reluctantly. Yes, it worked! I could finally move, but I needed to act fast. Once she left the room, I wasted no time. I grabbed one of Luca’s shirts—large, oversized—and slipped it on. His trousers, too, which were a little too long for me. I gathered my messy hair into a bun, trying to look casual as if I belonged. Next, I had to get rid of the guard outside the room. If I didn’t, my escape would be impossible. I walked up to the door, taking a deep breath, and opened it.

"Excuse me!" I called out to the guard, who looked at me with wide eyes. "Yes?" he responded, his voice serious. "You shouldn’t be out of the room. What are you doing here, ma’am? Boss is not gonna like it," he warned me, his stance stiffening. I quickly tried to think of something. "Well, I got my periods, you know... girl stuff," I said, my face flushing. He blinked. "So?" I pretended to be embarrassed. "Well, I was wondering if you could go and find the maid to bring me some tampons. There’s nothing in the wardrobe." He looked at me for a long moment, clearly torn. "Sorry, ma’am, you have to wait. I can’t leave you alone. Boss’s orders." I feigned a sigh, acting like I was frustrated. "Look, man, I can wait, but my period can’t. It’s not like I’m going to run away in this state. You can go and come back quickly. If you don’t go, I’ll make sure to tell your boss about it." His eyes widened slightly at my threat.

"Ok, I am going. Stay here," he said, turning quickly and walking away. "Thanks," I whispered under my breath as I quickly closed the door behind him. I waited, my heart pounding in my chest, until I heard his footsteps fading down the hall. This was my chance. I opened the door slowly and slipped out. The hallway was quiet, but I couldn’t waste time. The mansion was stunning—way bigger than any place I had ever seen. It was like something straight out of a movie. I could easily get lost here. I kept walking, making my way toward the front gate. But then, I saw the guards. They were everywhere. How was I going to get past them? Suddenly, I had an idea. I picked up a large stone from the ground and hurled it at the gate. The glass shattered loudly, drawing all of the guards’ attention. "Who’s there?" one of them shouted. I didn’t wait to see if they would come after me. I ran as fast as I could, my heart hammering in my chest. "Taxi! Taxi!" I yelled when I reached the street. A car pulled over almost immediately. "Yes, ma’am, where do you want to go?" the driver asked.
