Eric’s Perspective
The party was already in full swing when Cami and I walked in. The music thudded through the walls, and the air smelled of cheap alcohol and sweat. People were scattered all over, some kissing in dark corners, others dancing and laughing like they didn’t have a care in the world. I couldn't help but notice how different it was from our usual pack gatherings. Human parties were a different kind of chaos, but one that was amusing in its own way. “Wow, I’ve never been to a human party,” Cami said, her voice full of wonder. She was standing beside me, looking around like a kid in a candy store. I guess it’s a big deal for her. Cami was always the more curious and adventurous one, especially when it came to human things. “Well, you’re here now,” I chuckled, nudging her with my elbow. Cami was like a sister to Luca and me. We’d known each other forever, so her being in my company at a party like this didn’t feel all that strange.
She rolled her eyes at me, clearly not in the mood for a lecture. “Okay, so where’s that Ryan guy? I want to start our mission.” I raised an eyebrow. “Calm your hormones, woman.” She shot me a playful glare but didn’t argue. “I think our Luna isn’t here yet. Let’s grab some drinks first. We’ll start the mission when she arrives.” I didn’t argue with that. "Alright, let’s go," I said, leading the way toward the kitchen. The place was packed, but Cami and I made our way through the crowd easily. People gave us a few looks as we passed, but most of them were too busy with their own little worlds to care.
Once we reached the kitchen, I grabbed two bottles of whatever alcohol I could find. We wolves had a much higher alcohol tolerance than humans, so getting drunk wasn’t really an issue for us. It was more about the experience of it, the feeling of blending in with them, getting lost in their world, and watching how easily they got lost in ours. Cami downed her drink almost immediately, her eyes flicking around the room, scanning for someone. “I’m ready to start. Where’s the target?” "Listen, Cami,” I said, handing her another drink, “I think we should start the mission soon. We’ll stick to Luca’s plan, alright? There is no need to change anything yet. But, just a heads up, our Luna is human. So, control yourself, especially around her.” She looked at me, her lips curling into a smirk. “What? A human being?” she asked, as if the idea were preposterous.
“Yeah,” I said, taking a sip of my own drink, “But it doesn’t matter. Mates are mates. The Moon Goddess destined them, so who are we to say anything?” She nodded thoughtfully, though I could tell she wasn’t entirely happy about the situation. Cami had a thing for power, and the idea of a human becoming our Luna didn’t sit well with her. But it didn’t matter. That was the way the Moon Goddess had designed things, and even Cami couldn’t argue with fate. “Good,” I continued, tapping her on the shoulder. “Now, go say hello to that Ryan guy, if you know what I mean.” She raised an eyebrow at me. “You want me to talk to him now?” “Well, yeah. He's the one who’s keeping our Luna busy, right? Might as well get on his good side. Plus, it’ll be fun to mess with him a little,” I said, a grin spreading across my face. Cami gave me a sceptical look, but she wasn’t about to back down from a challenge.
“Alright, here goes nothing.” With that, she walked away toward the bar where Ryan was standing, chatting with a few other people. He didn’t see her coming at first, so she had the element of surprise. I watched her approach him, her body language calm but assertive. She was good at this, I had to give her that. The way she made her presence known was the way she took control of any situation. I leaned against the counter, taking another sip of my drink as I observed them. Cami had a way with people, even if she didn’t always play nice. As she reached Ryan, I saw her start talking to him, a smile playing on her lips. She was leaning in a little too close, making sure he noticed her. The guy was already looking a little too interested. I couldn’t help but grin. Cami was on fire tonight, and I knew she’d get under Ryan’s skin in no time. This party was about to get a lot more interesting. I scanned the room, keeping an eye on the other guests. There was still no sign of our Luna, but I could feel it—she was coming. And when she did, everything would change.
