Luca's POV

I took a deep breath, feeling my wolf, Zydus, stir with anticipation. "Zydus, I’m going to give you control, but you need to behave. She’s fragile," I warned him.
Zydus scoffed. "Luca, she’s my mate too. I just want to spend some time with her, nothing else." I sighed. "If you don’t behave, I’ll take control back immediately." "Fine," he muttered, rolling his eyes. This was going to be a long day. After taking a shower, I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist. I could feel my mate’s gaze on me. Isabelle was checking me out, and I smirked slightly. Even though she was stubborn, she couldn’t resist looking. Zydus was excited that she was finally acknowledging our bond, even in the smallest way.

When I told her that I wasn’t in control, she tensed up. She immediately demanded that Zydus give me back control. But that wasn’t going to happen. She needed to get used to my wolf. If she was going to be my queen, she had to learn how to handle both sides of me. Zydus grinned and decided to tease her. He moved closer, trying to have a little fun, but she ran. "I’ll teach her how to behave," Zydus growled. "Zydus, don’t do anything that will hurt you," I warned, rolling my eyes. My wolf was rough, dominant, and impatient. Isabelle had no idea how intense he could be. I wasn’t sure how she would cope with him, but she needed to learn. "Luca, she’s my mate too. So shut up," Zydus snapped at me before following her. We went downstairs and found Isabelle talking to Aurora. Zydus wasn’t pleased.

"Who told you to come downstairs without my permission?" he asked, his voice sharp. She turned to him with an annoyed expression. "Oh, now I need your permission to roam inside the house?" she said, rolling her eyes. Zydus growled lowly. "That’s it. I’m going to teach her some lessons."

"Zydus, don’t make me take control back," I warned in frustration. He ignored me, too focused on our mate. After a while, we decided to take Isabelle out to eat. I was expecting a high-class restaurant, but she suddenly stopped in front of a small café. "This is where I want to eat," she insisted. I was shocked. A café? Seriously? Zydus hesitated, but to my disbelief, he agreed. "You know we can’t trust her around people, and you agreed to this?" I growled at him. "Luca, we mated with her last night. We can feel her emotions now. If she plans anything or feels something unusual, we’ll know immediately. Besides, she wouldn’t dare try anything. Or else she’ll regret it," Zydus said confidently. I narrowed my eyes. "Let’s see how right you are, Zydus." We stepped inside the café and sat down. Isabelle looked around, seeming relaxed, but I was on high alert. We ordered our food, and while we waited, she turned to Zydus with a question.

"When is Luca going to take control back?" she asked. I raised an eyebrow. Was she missing me already? Or was she afraid of my wolf? I wasn’t sure, but I found her question interesting. Zydus answered her, but before we could continue our conversation, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen—it was one of the Alphas. "Kitten, I have to take this call. Stay here and behave. I’ll be back," I told her before stepping away to answer. "Uh—yeah, sure," she muttered as i went outside.  As soon as the conversation ended, I slipped my phone into my pocket and walked back into the café. But the sight in front of me made my blood boil.

Isabelle. Talking. To. Another. Male.
Not just any male—her fucking ex. I recognized that mutt instantly. Ryan. The bastard I hated more than anything. My vision turned red with rage, and I clenched my fists so hard my knuckles turned white. How fucking dare she? I told her to behave, but she didn’t listen. And now, she was going to pay for it. "Zydus, I’m not going to stop you. Do whatever you want with our mate," I told my wolf. Zydus growled in approval. He was just as furious as I was.

Isabelle must have felt the shift in the atmosphere because the moment she turned around, her face paled, and her eyes widened with fear. "Z-Zydus," she stuttered. She was scared. Good. She should be. "We are going home. Now," I said, my voice cold and firm. I didn’t wait for a response. I grabbed her wrist and dragged her out of the café. She didn’t struggle much—probably too afraid to. Smart choice. Without another word, I shoved her inside the car and slammed the door shut before getting into the driver’s seat. The entire ride home was silent. But my mind wasn’t. I was seething. I fucking told her to behave. I gave her a chance, but she threw it away. And for what? To talk to that bastard? For her sake, I didn’t kill him on the spot. But now? Now she had left me no choice. Ryan had to die. I didn’t kill the innocent, but this wasn’t about innocence. This was about Isabelle choosing to betray me. And because of that, I had to end him.
I sighed, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "Z-Zydus, I’m sorry. I won’t do it again. Please listen to me, just this once," she said softly, her voice trembling.
Was she serious right now? Did she really think I would fall for her pathetic little apology? No. She had pushed me too far. I had been lenient with her, but not anymore.
