Luca’s POV

When I stepped into the room, I immediately noticed that Isabelle wasn’t there. The bathroom door was closed, and I could hear the shower running. She must be taking a shower. Sighing, I decided to wait for her. I sat on the couch, pulling out my phone to check my emails and messages. Time passed slowly. Fifteen minutes… twenty… thirty. My patience was starting to wear thin. After nearly an hour, the bathroom door finally opened. Isabelle walked out, her damp hair wrapped in a towel, and she was wearing one of my oversized shirts."What took you so long, kitten?" I asked, my eyes scanning her face. "Uh… I just felt like having a long shower. Nothing else," she replied quickly, avoiding my gaze. I frowned. Something was off. Her scent was… different

Normally, her scent was sweet, calming—but today, it was stronger, more intoxicating. It was messing with my senses, making my wolf restless. "Are you sure?" I asked, narrowing my eyes. "Uh… yeah," she stammered. I stepped closer to her. The moment I grabbed her hand, my entire body stiffened. Shit. Her skin was burning hot—way hotter than normal. My grip tightened slightly as I tried to process what was happening. "Uh—Luca, your eyes," she whispered, her voice hesitant. I blinked in confusion. What? Then I realized—my wolf was pushing forward, my irises glowing with his presence. "Zydus, control yourself. What the fuck is wrong with you?" I growled internally. "Luca, our mate is making me lose control," Zydus snarled. I clenched my jaw. Oh, come on!

The situation was getting worse. Not only was Isabelle burning up, but her scent was now almost unbearable. It wrapped around me like a drug, making my body tense and my wolf claw at my mind. I wanted to stay in control, but it was becoming harder by the second. "Kitten, you're coming to the doctor with me," I said firmly, my voice rougher than usual. "No, I am not," she pouted, crossing her arms. I inhaled sharply, trying to stay calm. Not now, Isabelle. "Stop arguing and do as I say," I commanded, my tone leaving no room for debate. She sighed. "Look, I probably just have a high temperature. I'll take some medicine. If nothing changes, then I'll go with you," she bargained. I stared at her for a moment before exhaling through my nose. Fine. "Fine. Have some rest and take your medicine. I have to go to the office. And don’t even think about doing anything behind my back," I warned her. I stepped closer, pressing a kiss to her forehead. The moment my lips touched her skin, my wolf let out a deep, satisfied growl inside me. "Zydus, enough. Why are you acting like this?" I muttered to myself, rolling my eyes. "Because she's ours," Zydus growled possessively. Shaking my head, I turned and left the room. I needed to clear my mind.

One Hour Later

I was sitting in my office, trying to focus on my work, but my thoughts kept drifting back to Isabelle. Something was wrong. My instincts screamed at me to go back, but I pushed them down. Then, suddenly, my sister’s voice rang through my mind. "Brother, you have to come back. Luna is in heat." I froze. "What?" I asked, my breath hitching. Did I hear that right? "Can you repeat that?" My voice was sharp, urgent. "Luca, bring your ass back. Your mate needs you. She's in intense pain. Only you can help her," Aurora repeated, her voice firm. My heart slammed against my chest. Heat? Isabelle is in heat? Zydus let out a deep, primal growl. "Luca, we have to go. Now!" he roared. Without wasting another second, I shifted into my wolf and bolted out of the office, running at full speed toward my penthouse. My mind raced as I tried to make sense of what was happening. She’s human. How is this possible? A heat cycle was something only wolves experienced. It was a biological reaction that happened when mates were near each other for too long without marking or mating. It made them crave their mate desperately, their scent becoming stronger, pulling unmated wolves toward them. My jaw clenched at the thought.

Fuck. There were male warriors in my house. If Isabelle’s scent was strong enough… a feral growl tore through my throat. "She’s mine. No one else can go near her." I pushed my legs faster, my wolf taking full control as we tore through the woods, leaping over fallen branches and dodging trees. Within minutes, I reached the penthouse and shifted back into my human form. The moment I stepped inside, I barked out an order. "Warriors, you are dismissed for today!" The men immediately bowed their heads before leaving. I didn’t care if they were confused—I wasn’t going to risk even a single male getting near what was mine. Zydus was still restless, pacing in my mind, demanding I get to our mate now. "Where is she?" I shouted. Aurora appeared in front of me. "Brother, she's in your room, lying on your bed," she informed me. I didn’t waste time. "Tell everyone to come tomorrow. No one is allowed near our floor," I commanded. "Yes, Alpha!" Aurora responded. Without another word, I stormed toward my room, my heart racing with urgency. My belle needs me.
