Isabelle’s POV

Three weeks later

It had been three weeks since I had returned to Luca’s arms, three weeks since I had been turned into a werewolf, since I had a wolf of my own. Today was an important day—the day I would be crowned as queen and officially recognized as Luca’s mate. But these past three weeks had not been easy. I sat by the window in my room, staring outside, lost in my thoughts. The nightmares still haunted me. Every night, I found myself reliving the terrifying memories of Dave—his cruel hands, his wicked voice, the fear of what he had planned to do to me. But worse than that was the fear of him hurting Luca. The thought of losing him sent chills down my spine. Many nights, I woke up in a cold sweat, gasping for air, my body trembling uncontrollably. The pain, the fear—it was all still fresh. I cried, feeling helpless against the torment of my own mind. But through it all, Luca had been there. He never left my side, not even for a moment. He held me close when I woke up screaming, whispered soothing words in my ear, gently rubbed my back until I calmed down.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you, Luca,” I whispered to myself, my heart swelling with gratitude. Luca was my strength, my anchor. He never judged my weakness, never showed frustration when I couldn’t sleep, or when my body shook with fear. He was patient, always bringing me back to reality with his presence. The past weeks had also brought some warmth into my life. I got to know Luca’s mother—a kind and gentle woman who welcomed me into her home with open arms. She treated me like family from the very first moment, offering love and support that I never knew I needed.

People from different packs visited me, offering their well-wishes, trying to help me forget my pain. Aurora also became someone I relied on. But even with so many people around me, it was Luca who never left my side. He took me everywhere with him, even to meetings, refusing to leave me alone. His presence was a constant reminder that I was safe, that I was loved. Then there was my wolf—Selene. She had been a headache at first. Her voice echoed in my mind constantly, overwhelming me with her emotions. But Luca helped me control her, teaching me how to connect with her. One night, we decided to shift for the first time. When I finally transformed, Zydus—Luca’s wolf—was overjoyed to meet Selene. We ran together for hours, playing near the lake, chasing each other through the trees. For the first time in weeks, I felt free. I felt whole. One day, I asked Luca why I couldn’t mind-link him or anyone else. He smiled and explained, “We both marked each other, so we have a special connection. But once we have our ceremony and you’re crowned as queen, you’ll gain every right.” I closed my eyes, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over me.

Despite the horrors of my past, I knew I was lucky. Having Luca by my side was a gift I would never take for granted. A sudden knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. “Knock, knock.” “Babe, can I come in?” I turned to see Luca standing at the door, looking as handsome as ever. My heart skipped a beat. “Yes, you can,” I said, smiling softly. He stepped inside, his eyes scanning my face with concern. “How are you feeling now, Izzy?” “I’m better, Luca. Thanks for asking.” He nodded, walking closer. “Are you ready for today?” I let out a deep sigh. “If I’m being honest, I’m kind of nervous. I don’t know how to feel about it.” Luca reached out, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “You don’t have to be nervous, love. Everything will be fine. It’s a simple ceremony where we’ll be mated in front of the entire werewolf community. Think of it as a ball—nothing to be scared of.” I bit my lip. “Promise me you won’t leave me alone?” He cupped my face gently, his warm lips pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. “I promise you, my love.”

My heart melted at his words. “Now, get ready,” he said, pulling away. “The hairdresser and makeup artist will be here in an hour.” With that, he exited the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I took a long shower, letting the warm water soothe my tense muscles. When I stepped out, I wrapped myself in a fluffy white towel. Just as I pushed the bathroom door open, I froze. My jaw dropped. The room was completely transformed. Four girls, each dressed in stylish outfits, stood around, excitement shining in their eyes. Dresses of different colours and styles were spread out everywhere. The dressing table was covered in an explosion of makeup—lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadow palettes, and brushes. One of the girls beamed at me. “Isabelle, you look gorgeous even without makeup!” The others nodded in agreement.
