Into the Unknown

The Avengers Part 7

As he steps outside I can see some Chitauri fly by. The portal must've opened then. They are quite ugly. I get up and walk over to the window to see better. It is one thing to watch it on my TV, it is another to see it in real life.

Thor lands on the balcony and the two brothers begin to fight. I run back to the couch and watch wishing I had some popcorn. Watching them fight in real life is actually really cool. Loki elegantly moves out of the way of Thor's hammer swing while swinging his scepter behind his head and shooting a blast of energy at Thor.

Thor grabs Loki. I can't hear them talking but I can figure out that he is asking him if this is what Loki wanted. For one brief moment Loki is free of Thanos' control in the movie so I assume that is what happens here. I hear Thor's grunt of pain then see him push Loki away from him. I get up and run outside to Thor as Loki rolls off the balcony and onto one of the flying Chitauri vehicles.

"I need to...get you to safety." Thor grunts as he pulls the tiny dagger out of his side.

I shake my head. "No. Natasha will be landing here and I need to get that," I point to Loki's scepter, "to her."

Thor glances at the scepter and then back at me. He opens his mouth to say something but a terrible roar fills the air and we both look up to see a Leviathan coming out of the wormhole.

"Shit!" I exclaim. I look back at Thor. "Thor! You need to get back down there and help the others. They're going to need you!" I jab my finger into his chest.

"But-" He starts but I interrupt him.

"But nothing. This building is safe. Nothing happens to it. I'll be safest here."

He looks at me for a minute then sighs. "Alright." He places a hand on my shoulder. "But please be careful."

I nod and he backs up as he starts to twirl Mjolnir and flies away. I turn back to the scepter and walk over to it. I bend down to pick it up but hesitate. I stand back up still looking at the scepter, specifically, the blue crystal that houses the Mind Stone. I look back into the room, there's a blanket over the back of the couch so I run in and grab it. I throw it over the scepter.

I can't take any chances of Thanos finding out anything and though I'm not sure if he can see anything through the stone or if the Other can, I figure it's better to be safe than sorry. With the blanket covering the scepter, I pick it up and head back inside the room and go up the stairs to the roof to wait for Natasha to show up.

I exit onto the roof and Dr. Selvig looks at me from watching the Chitauri army coming through the wormhole. His eyes flick down to the blanket covered scepter in my hand and he opens his mouth to say something but an explosion happens and we both get knocked to the ground. I sit up and shake my head. I slowly get up and look over to see a Leviathan crashing to the ground. I'm not sure if that was Tony's work or Thor's. I look back at Dr. Selvig to see him slowly moving to get up. I think he should be free from the mind control now.

"Hey, are you alright?" I walk over to him and kneel down next to him.

"I think so." He says, holding a hand to his head.

Yeah, he's ok I think to myself. I walk over to the edge of the building, looking down to see the Avengers fighting the Chitauri army. A part of me wanted to be down there with them but I couldn't fight so I knew I would just be in the way. It was better for me to be up here where it was, relatively, safe. I frown, at that moment I realize that I will never be an Avenger no matter what I do.
