Into the Unknown

Ironman 3 Part 3

Closing my eyes turned out to be a very wrong move as I fell asleep. I don't know how long I sleep for but I open my eyes with a jolt. Looking at the bed shows me that Pepper is not there. There is also a blanket covering me so I assume she put it there when she woke up.

I throw the blanket off of me and quickly exit the room. I find her in the living room with Maya talking to each other.

"Pepper." I say as I enter the room.

She turns to look at me and gets up to hug me. "Hey, I saw you were asleep and didn't want to wake you."

"Actually I wish you had awakened me. We need to leave this place." I tell her.

"Wha...again?" Pepper asks.

"Aldrich is coming." Maya answers. I look at her in surprise. "I don't know how long until he arrives but you might be able to miss him if you leave."

Pepper looks at her. "You mean this was a trap?" Her eyes narrow and she begins to walk towards the front door. Unfortunately, just like in the movie, when she opens it there is Aldrich standing on the other side.

He puts a hand over her mouth to keep her from screaming and the other hand is holding a gun which he points directly at me.

"This the one?" He asks Maya.

She nods and I sigh. "Of course you told him."

The smile he gives is not a friendly one. "Now then, you ladies are coming with me." He motions with the gun for me to step in front of him.

I know better than to try and run. Even if I did, I didn't know where to go. And even though I know that Pepper and Tony survive, I know that that does not mean that I will. As that realization hits me, I become scared.

I sit in the backseat of Aldritch's car with Pepper. Her hand is tightly holding mine and I'm scared to death now. I need a hand to hold as much as she does. I stay silent in the car but as soon as Killian arrives at a shipyard and gets out I look at Pepper.

"Look, he's going to inject you with his formula."

She looks at me scared and I squeeze her hand.

"You'll survive and become kickass."

Killian opens the door before we can say anything else and we both get out. He grabs my arm and points the gun in Pepper's back to get us to move. He ends up handcuffing me to a pipe while Pepper is led to another room.

"So I hear you know what's going to happen. So how about you tell me what's going to happen."

I shrug the best I can. "Sure. You lose."

He chuckles. "Tony is currently tied up at the moment."

"I didn't say it was Tony who beats you." I glare at him.

He just gives me a cocky smile. "Well, we'll see about that." And with that he turns around as Pepper comes back into the room. He straps her to a table and begins to inject her with his formula. She looks at me, completely scared.

I frown and tears begin to fall. I...I didn't realize it would be this hard to stomach this. Killian soon leaves. I try to pulling at the handcuffs but I can't do anything.

"It's going to be ok." I hear Pepper say.

I look over at her. Even though we both are scared, I am at least comforted in that I'm not alone. There is nothing I can do. Hours pass and night begins to fall and the sound of gunshots begins to fill the quiet.

"Tony's here. With Rhodey." I say to Pepper. She nods her head.

She was taking to the formula like she did in the movie. I did remember her kicking ass at the end. And then an explosion rips through the room. We both scream as the room is now in shambles. The pipe I am handcuffed to breaks and I am able to free myself from that but I am pinned under a beam in return.

Tony runs in and looks at both of us.

"Don't worry about me. Get Pepper. I'll be fine." I say as I try to free myself.

Killian shows up then.

"She says I lose. I say my ending is different." He begins to glow and attacks Tony.

Tony manages to cut his arm up but since it was basically molten hot, it causes the floor under Pepper to collapse. Tony runs out and Killian walks over to me. He picks up the beam and grabs me, picking me up. He pulls me along with him as his arm regenerates. We walk outside and I can see all of Tony's suits flying around fighting off Killian's minions.

We make it to the ramp Tony is on just as Pepper falls down. I scream.

"Aww shame. I would've caught her." Killian goads Tony.

Tony looks over at us. "Let her go." He chokes out. I can see his mouth move but I can't hear what he is saying.

I realize what it is a few minutes later as I see Rhodey in the Iron Patriot armor flying towards us. I look over at Tony and he gives me a subtle nod as he bends down as another suit is flying towards him. I bite down hard on Killian's arm and as soon as he lets go of me and jump off the ramp. Rhodey catches me. I hold onto him for dear life.

"That...I never want to do that again." I say as he flies away from the fight.

"Tell Tony to get you your own suit then."

I let out a shaky chuckle. He sets me down next to the President but my legs give out and I collapse to the ground.

I look up at him. "I'll be ok. I just need..." I don't finish the sentence but Rhodey nods his head. I look back at the shipyard. Unfortunately I am too far away to see what is going on but I can guess that Tony and Pepper are kicking ass.

Rhodey had been talking to the President when we all stopped to watch as all of Tony's suits start to explode.

"Tony won." I say though it didn't need to be said.

Rhodey comes up to me after a few minutes. "Tony says I'm supposed to bring you to him."

"Ok." I get up on shaky legs and let Rhodey pick me up.

"By the way, did I ever tell you that you're my favorite Avenger?" I tell him as he flies up into the air.

"No. But can you say that again when Tony's present?"

I laugh. When we land next to Tony and Pepper I run over to them and wrap my arms around Pepper.

"I told you, you were going to kick ass." I tell her as I cry onto her shoulder. As I hold onto her I vow that the next movie I was going to do more. I wasn't sure how but I was going to do something other than just "sit around and do nothing." I had to do more. I had to if I wanted to save everyone.
