Into the Unknown

Thor the Dark World part 5

We make it to the cave. At least I hope it's the right cave. As everyone pauses to catch their breaths I look around. Sure enough I find a phone and a set of keys.

"These yours?" I look at Jane.

She takes the phone. "Yes they are!"

"Good because you're about to get a call." I say as I walk back over to where Loki is standing in the back.

The phone starts to ring and Jane answers. Loki is looking outside the cave.

"Do you really think it's a good idea for me to go back to Earth?" He asks.

I shrug. "Would you rather go back to Asgard?"

He looks at me.

"It'll be fine." Though I'm not sure. I know he won't try to take over the Earth again, but that doesn't mean that others will be sure of it. I hold out my hand to him as I turn back to follow Jane and Thor through the portal that will take us back to Earth.

He looks at my hand for a minute before taking it. I think my heart stops beating all together. We pass through the invisible portal and end up in the building where Jane first came into contact with the Aether.

"Holy crap, you were right!" Jane says.

I don't respond but follow them to the car parked outside. Thor and Jane sit in the front and Loki and I get in the back.

"So who's Richard?" Thor asks.

"Really?" Jane responds.

We drive to Jane's apartment.

"Erik!" She says as she enters the room.

"Jane!" I hear several voices say at once.

I hang back and watch Thor hang Mjolnir on the coat rack.

"Thor!" Erik says and then he sees Loki and his smile fades into a look of fear.

"It's ok." I pat Loki's arm while looking at Erik. "Good god."

Erik looks at me and studies me. "I remember you."

"Yeah we never got properly introduced." I tell him my name and then Jane starts telling him everything she needs. I recognize some of the words she says. Science was not my thing.

Erik goes to grab a map but I step forward. "It's Greenwich."

Everyone looks at me. "Then Greenwich is where we'll go." Jane says.

"Wait, you're just going to trust her? The one who is standing next to the same guy who tried to take over Earth?" Darcy asks.

"She's been right about everything so far." Jane answers while grabbing some things.

Darcy is quiet for a minute. "I'm bringing my taser. Meuh-Meuh isn't the only thing that can shock people."

Loki gets a very confused expression on his face. "What in the nine realms is...Meuh-Meuh?"

I laugh. "She means Mjolnir. But I prefer Jonathan. It's easier to say."

Loki just looks even more confused and Thor gives me a confused look.

"It's an inside joke in my world. I'll explain later."

Soon everyone exits the apartment and before we leave the building Loki grabs my arm.

"Is there any way you can stay here?" He asks.

I don't know if I should be happy or mad at that. "I'll be ok. I'll stay with Erik and Jane."
