Rule the World

This is by far the fanciest and most expensive restaurant I've ever been in. We check our coats in and Loki gives the host our name. The host snaps his fingers and a waiter appears and takes us to our seats. Our table is right next to a window. The waiter pulls out the chair for me.

"Thank you." I say as I sit down.

"You're very welcome, madam." The waiter says.

He then leaves and I look around the place. There are a few people looking over at us and whispering but I try to ignore them. Most of the tables are small enough for just two people but there are a few in the back for bigger parties. Also in the back is a live orchestra. The music is soft and not loud enough to over power any conversation.

"Do you like this?" Loki asks.

I know I am probably smiling like an idiot but I don't care.

"Yes. This is so pretty."

Even though the inside is white and marble, the lights have been turned down with candles on the tables to give a more romantic atmosphere. The waiter comes back with two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. He pours the wine.

"Your food will be out shortly." He says before leaving again.

I look at Loki and raise an eyebrow.

"Uh we didn't order."

Loki takes a sip of the wine.

"This place has a preset menu." He looks at me and frowns. "You've never been to a place like this have you?"

I frown and shake my head. "No. You're dating a peasant, Loki."

He narrows his eyes at me. "You are no such thing." He reaches out and takes my hand. "You are my Princess and you should be treated as such."

I blush and look down. I mean I'm not technically a princess...yet I think but there is enough time for that later.

The waiter returns with our first meal. Apparently this is one of those places that does the seven course meal thing. It sounds like a lot but the courses are small. I have to pace myself and tell myself to not embarrass Loki. I don't care about embarrassing myself. I do that everyday. But I will not embarrass Loki. Halfway through our meal I look out the window to see that it is snowing.

There is a commotion and everybody turns to look at the orchestra as someone steps up to a mic that had been added.

"Good evening and a lovely Valentine's Day to everyone here tonight. This is the moment you've all been waiting for. The moment to share a few romantic dances with your partner. So if you are willing, you are free to come up and dance." The singer says.

The orchestra begins to play a slow love song. I take a sip of my wine. I see a few people get up to dance for the first song and then more people join in on the second.

"Would you care to dance?" Loki asks me.

It's slow dancing and I know I can do that at least.

"Yes."

Loki stands up and he holds out his hands. A box appears in them. He opens it to reveal a necklace with a lone diamond in a teardrop. I gasp.

"Loki! It's beautiful!"

He takes the necklace and unclasps it. I turn and he puts it on me.

"Like I said, you are my Princess and should be treated as such."

He takes my hand and leads me out to the dance floor. The next song starts and the singer begins to sing

You light the skies up above me

A star so bright you blind me, yeah, yeah

Don't close your eyes

Don't fade away, don't fade away, oh

Loki pulls me close, putting one arm around me while the other continues to hold my hand. I lay my head on his chest and we start to sway to the song.

Yeah, you and me we can ride on a star

If you stay with me, girl, we can rule the world

Yeah, you can me we can light up the sky

If you stay by my side, we can rule the world

If walls break down, I will comfort you

If angels cry, oh, I'll be there for you

You've saved my soul

Don't leave me now, don't leave me now, oh

Yeah, you and me we can ride on a star

If you stay with me, girl, we can rule the world

Yeah, you and me we can light up the sky

If you stay by my side, we can rule the world.

The rest of the world has faded away. It's just me and Loki. In our own perfect world. Nothing bad will ever happen again.

"I love you, Loki." I say softly.

"I love you too, Princess." He says.

I lift my head just enough to kiss him.

All the stars are coming out tonight

They're lighting up the sky tonight for you, for you

All the stars are coming out tonight

They're lighting up the sky tonight for you, for you

All the stars are coming out tonight

They're lighting up the sky tonight for you, for you

All the stars are coming out tonight

They're lighting up the sky tonight for you, for you

The song fades away and the world fades in. Still holding hands we make our way back to our table. This has been the most perfect Valentine's Day I have ever had. Once we were finished with our meal, dessert included, and we danced to one more song, we grabbed our coats and headed outside. It was now late and still snowing. I hold out my hand and let some land in my palm.

"Do you like snow?" Loki asks.

I give a little laugh. "I love it. The world just seems more quiet when it snows." I look up at Loki to see his hair has some snowflakes sticking to a few of his strands that had come loose. I reach up and run my fingers through his hair. "And now I have another reason to love it."

Loki smiles and blushes. He does the same to my hair.

"You're going to get sick if you stay out here much longer." He gently chides.

I laugh and I hear my phone ring. I pull it out of the small purse I had taken with me.

"Hello?"

"Happy Valentine's Day, Sweetheart." I hear on the other end of the phone and my blood runs cold.
