Into the Unknown

The Avengers Part 6

Just as I enter the room there is an explosion. I stumble and hold onto the rail to keep me from falling. When the vibrations stop I look up at Loki and smile.

"Looks like the party is starting."

I knew the utter chaos that was happening right now and honestly, this was probably the safest room to be in at the moment. That is until a bunch of Loki's controlled soldiers run in and point their guns at me. I hold my hands up in surrender.

"No! Not her!" Loki commands and the soldiers lower their weapons.

I stay pressed against the wall as the soldiers set about freeing Loki from the cell. When Loki is out he tells one of the soldiers something and that one runs out of the room. Loki then looks over at me and walks over to me.

"Stay here." He commands.

I nod. He turns around and I open my mouth. "Thor will be here shortly." He's probably fighting Hulk about now.

Loki gets a smile on his face. "Good." With a twist of his hand, a copy of him appears back in the cell.

I lean back against the wall as there's nothing that I can do now when I remember what happens next. Fuck! How am I going to save Phil? I try to think about what to do while I wait for Thor.

Thor runs in just as the soldiers are letting the fake Loki out. Thor runs through the fake Loki.

"Are you ever not going to fall for that?" Loki asks Thor.

I bite my cheek to keep from smiling. I still have no idea how I'm going to save Phil but I have to act fast, he's going to be opening the door soon. I step away from the wall and towards the door just as it opens.

I look at Phil and shake my head at him while blocking his way in but he just pushes past me. My only option is to stand right behind him.

"Like it? It's a prototype. Even I don't know what it does." Phil says to the other fake Loki, holding up the weird blaster gun.

The fake Loki steps away from the control panel for the cage.

Phil takes a step and I take a step to stay behind him when I feel an arm go around my waist and pull me away. There is a flash of green and Phil hits the wall and slumps down onto the floor.

"NO!" Thor yells.

The real Loki, with his arm still around me, pulls me towards the control panel. I keep my eyes on Phil and can see his chest move.

He's not dead. Loki didn't kill him! I think as relief fills me. There is no wound or blood on the wall. He has to be alive!

"Loki! Let her go!" Thor demands.

"Sorry Brother ," He spits the word out, "she's coming with me. The humans think of us as immortal. Shall we test that theory?" He pushes the button and the cage and Thor drop.

I look down at the space where they once were and then look back at Loki.

"Spoiler alert, he lives."

Loki frowns but continues to pull me along with him when a gasp stops us.

"You won't win." I hear Phil say slowly. He tries to move.

"Don't move Phil!" I say to him. "Keep still. Someone will be here shortly."

Phil turns his head towards us. "You lack conviction."
