Bring me to Life

The first thing I feel is soreness. And heavy. My body feels sore, heavy, and stiff. It takes a lot of effort to open my eyes. When I do I look around. I have no idea where I am. I try to remember what had happened when I hear a gasp and see the back of a woman leaving. I try to sit up but my body feels too stiff.

An older woman comes in.

"Careful now." She reaches out to me and gently helps me lay back down. "Your body is still recovering."

"Wh..." I begin to cough and she quickly fills a glass with water and, holding my head up with one hand, brings the glass to my lips. I drink it all down and realize that my throat doesn't hurt. "Where am I?"

The woman takes the cup and fills it with water again and brings the glass to my lips again. "You're in the healing ward."

This time I sip the water. "Healing ward?"

"You're back in Asgard, Dear." I hear a familiar voice say.

I look to see Frigga walking toward me.

"Frigga?!" I say in shock.

How did I end up in Asgard? Didn't I die? What happened? So many thoughts run through my head as Frigga takes my hand and squeezes it.

"I'll answer all your questions. It seems my sons and their friends went to save you and brought you back here." She says softly.

So that had really been Loki and not Death coming for me? She helps me take another sip of water.

"We had you brought here immediately and Eir and the other healers have been working nonstop to heal you."

I look over at Eir and give her a small smile. "Thank you."

Eir just waves her hand dismissively. "Never mind that. How are you feeling?"

"Sore and stiff." I answer.

"Well that's to be expected. You've been unconscious for three months." She says.

My jaw drops open. "Three months?!"

Frigga squeezes my hand again. "It took quite a while to heal you."

I feel a little dizzy at this and I shut my eyes. I've been unconscious for three months on Asgard. I open them as I remember something.

"Wait, is Loki in the dungeons?" Odin had said that if Loki set one foot outside of the castle then he would go back to the dungeons. Then a realization hit me. Loki risked going back to the dungeons to save me? Why?

Frigga shakes her head and smiles. "No, my Dear. In fact he should be on the way here."

Sure enough, I can hear a door open and seconds later Thor and Loki round the corner.

"There she is! We just heard that you were awake." Thor says as he smiles at me.

"Hey Thor." I say as Frigga and Eir help me sit up. I look at Loki and give him a soft shy smile. "Hi Loki."

He looks at me with relief and concern on his face. "Hello Pet."

"How did you find me?" I ask them.

"Heimdall. He said you were in trouble and sent us to that building." Thor says, his face taking on a serious tone.

"And against my orders as well." I hear Odin's voice boom in the room. "So you are awake." He says upon seeing me.

Disappointed? I want to ask, but keep my mouth shut.

"And I'm sure she is also hungry as well." Frigga jumps in. Thank God for her.

"I'll have food brought up." Loki says as he turns to leave.

I watch with sadness as he leaves.

"Right and I need to give her an evaluation and she needs to visit the healing baths." Eir says. "I'm afraid everyone is going to have to leave."

Thor and Frigga tell me goodbye and leave but Odin is still standing at the foot of the bed I'm lying on.

"You may stay while you are being healed. I know it was because of you that my Frigga is still alive. For that, I owe you." He then turns and leaves.

Eir and another healer help me off the bed. My body is so stiff that I nearly trip on my first step.

"I'm sorry." I say.

"Don't be. You haven't walked in three months. Besides, the healing baths will make you feel better." Eir assures me.

They both help me out of the dress I was wearing and I can't help but look at my body. The burn marks are gone. Faint scars are left in their place. I run my fingers over one on my side and sniffle.

"I'm sorry." I whisper.

Eir puts her hands on shoulders gently. "As I've said, don't be. I don't know what happened but whatever it was, you survived."

I let out a sob and nod. The baths look more like infinity pools, complete with stairs that lead into the bath. I walk into the bath. It is nice and hot, but not too hot. I let out a sigh as I feel my body start to relax. My body also begins to tingle all over. Like my whole body went to sleep and is now waking up.

It's not a proper bath as I don't actually bathe, but I relish being in it. When Eir finally tells me I need to get out, my body doesn't feel as stiff and sore as it did before. I am dressed in a clean dress and led to the Soul Forge. I lay down and let Eir look at the projection above me.

"Well you are basically healed. But I'm going to keep you here for one more night just in case." She says.

"Ok. Thank you again." I say as I follow her back to my bed, which now has clean sheets on it. Along with a tray of food next to it.

She just waves her hand dismissively again and tells me to eat everything. The food is delicious and I devour it. I don't get any more visitors that night and just before I go to sleep, Eir hands me a vial of some kind of liquid.

"This will help you sleep and heal at the same time." She says.

I drink it and grimace at the taste. It's bitter but I thank her all the same. It isn't long before I fall asleep again.
