Chapter Ten: Deception

We all stood there while Geneviene checked the map in her hands as Mono was standing right there next to me. She was wearing a full black bodysuit that covered her neck, down to her wrist and ankles. And her hair was down, straight but messy. I guess I stared at her long enough because she turned and gave me this look. I looked away but then I stared again.

"Alright, we're headed East.. I tried to find a way to avoid the jungle, but looks like there's no way! While we're in this jungle DON'T make any eye contact with the monkeys. Stay clear of plants and know that the water is no good here! Also most importantly, Don't eat any of their fruits!" "The monkeys' fruits?" I asked. "No, the base's fruits!" Heelix replied then continued, "This is a jungle designed for the base, it was made to protect this base and keep out intruders." She went on, "Follow my rules, and you'll all be safe!"

[..In the Jungle]
Heelix had told me he had been here before, and that it really wasn't as bad as she had made it seem.. Just that you'd have to avoid anything that looked delicious and the monkeys were playful! But Heelix was alive, so I knew it couldn't have been that hard! We walked down this path as I could start to hear the monkeys yelling at us! Geneviene told us to ignore them and Heelix had his guns pointed to the trees, looking just so paranoid. "I thought you were into saving all lives!" "Yeah well not lives that threaten mine!" He told me.

The path cut off into a small area with a big white tree covered in moss. It was the only white tree in the jungle. The walk was so long, I felt so thirsty! We walked thirty minutes, but it felt like two hours!

Astrid took a cucumber out of her backpack and began to bite into it with her shark teeth. "What? It's nutritional!" Her sister said in a thick norwegian accent with a smile to flirt to me. Astrid pressed her lips on the cucumber, then said to me.. "What, I know how to use no teeth!" Her sister laughed. They were mocking the excruciating pain I would be put through if that were to ever happen.

Geneviene sent a boy up the tree to see where we were at a better view and if he could see any buildings from here. His name was Terro and he was really good at climbing. He was superhuman. He climbed so high we couldn't even see him and then fell!

He told Geneviene there were fake branches set up as holograms to trick them. I could hardly hear him say anything when he fell, but when he did he broke his leg.

Geneviene was still worried and decided to help Terro with any meds that we had with us. "No you're not fine! Your superhuman but you just fell off of a 30-foot tree!" She stayed behind to stay with Terro and sent us ahead with Heelix.. He was now in charge of us. Something she wasn't supposed to do as a captain.

[..On the Walk to the base]
"Why didn't she just leave Terro with someone else?" "Geneviene doesn't like to leave Terro alone.." "He wouldn't have been alone." Heelix came up with an answer for me. "There's certain things you just don't need to understand right now Casper.. A lot has changed when you left.. Nothing that will affect you!" "What the hell does that mean?" Henry was offended. "It means your invincible Casper! Untouchable.. No one would even try to do anything.. With you.. They couldn't anyways, you belong to Myers!" I punched Heelix. He deserved it. And it was the first punch I let out in two years.

Everyone was staring at me and Heelix bleeding. He didn't care too much to not continue, "You've been gone so long you don't even seem to realize what's been happening. You've never paid any attention to anyone but yourself Casper. You were your only priority and Myers' priority! You won't even remember!" I hit him, but in his nose.
