Chapter 31: The Prodigy Ball

It was weeks after the mission to "Muerte Island" and Amari was still grieving from her uncle's passing while Henry was helping. She wasn't allowed to go to her uncle's funeral because she wasn't allowed to leave the country. Not because the League said so, but because her passport was being considered as fraudulent, so it was compromised by the FBI.

Tonight would be the yearly ball that would be thrown by one of the League's agency leaders that would be held in their own mansion! It was a different leader every year.

Tonight was the only night that was seen as freedom by The League's luckiest members. It was invite only and only the members who were considered as prodigies would have the ball to enjoy, alongside with their agency leaders. It was a celebration of success. And of course Henry would be there after missing the last three balls due to his absence in The League..

Members were allowed to have one guest accompany them, even if they were not invited, but of course they had to be a top ranking member of The League if not a spouse or a favored close relative. But we all could only expect to see the couples that were already known and accepted by The League.

But Henry brought Amari.

"You'd look beautiful. That dress would look beautiful." Amari smiled to Henry sitting on her bed while she held up the blue rich silk dress to show him how she'd look in it!

"Thank you Henry," she said. Henry couldn't accept the thanks. "It was an old dress given by Myers to me." Amari thought of Alice when Henry got sad. "So it's an antique!" She said cheerfully admiring the dress more in the mirror. Henry got a call. It was Heelix.. He stepped out to answer it. He told Amari he was just going to pick her up later for the ball instead of staying.

[a phone call with Heelix]
"No Henry, that's a bad idea. Myers might be there. We don't want to upset him any further." "Oh please I highly doubt that Myers would be there. It's not his house!" Heelix tried to get Henry to listen. "Alice died three years ago.. I'm 22 now. I make my own decisions." "Just be careful with what you're doing Casper. Amari is grieving and YOU are still grieving. Amari is depressed. You can't see it, but you're the only thing that's giving her happiness. She has no friends now, Henry. She lost her bestfriend." "-I know Heelix.. We're just friends!" "Good! That's a good choice.. Casper."

Casper hung up.

Heelix was trying his best to distance himself from Casper. They mostly talked through the phone.

Henry drove to Katherine's.

"You don't have to take me Henry." "I don't have a date." Henry said hastily. Katherine lost her smile. "Be ready at seven?"

He left to get ready for the ball. Wearing his suit gifted by Myers.

But Henry saw Captain and tried his best not to run into him. He unluckily ran into Cade instead.

"And who's this?" Henry asked. "My girlfriend." Cade answered irritated in a deep tone. He had been dating her for three years. "Now let me be you. Who did you bring?" Henry and Cade both looked over to Katherine. "Wise choice." Katina said, raising her glass to Henry. Henry was confused as to why she even spoke.

Katherine walked over.

"Katina! How are you?" "I could be dressed better. But Cade warned me of the dress code!" "You look beautiful!" Katherine complimented. "What the hell is she doing here?" Cade asked when distracted by Amari coming down the steps dressed in her OWN DRESS!

That was a white ball gown!

That looked offly like a wedding dress.

Henry got anxious. "Excuse me!" He handed his drink for Cade to hold. Cade was appalled!
