Chapter 49: A day to Remember

In time we freeze.
We freeze within time.
Time passes.
But it stays still for us.
Everything around us becomes frozen.
Now we are icebergs.
Not Floating to sea,
But bound to it.
The currents pick up and carry without us.

Or stuck in time.

It was ice cold. The coldest day we've felt all year.

"What could you remember?"

The rain finally stopped, but it turned to hail every Tuesday.

"You said you felt a feeling of invincibility when you turned?" Henry nodded his head subconsciously answering all the questions but stared out the window daydreaming instead.

"And this reminds you of.. your strength?" "Yeah I guess." Henry said, unconcerned.

He rose up and went to the window when he saw..

"What are you doing out of the water?" "I'm walking."

Her smile glowed like one hundred fireflies. Henry was mesmerized by her.

"Well I guess some mermaids walk too." Henry noticed her lack of warm clothing. It was freezing. "How are you not cold?" "The water is much colder now.. I'm warmer here." Henry found Althea even more odd.

"Are you superhuman?" She smiled and nodded. It's like she was happy I asked.

"So you swim.. You must be a mermaid! Well tell me one thing you can't do. Can you fly?"

Althea laughed.

"I don't mean this in any way for how creepy I'm gonna sound but it's like we've met before and you seem completely unbothered by me but it's like you've been watching me.. And either I'm right or I'm completely off my meds." Althea's smile was erased and replaced by a sly slick smile.. A smile that reminded him of how beautiful Alice once was.

She was a light that pulled me in..

"Just tell me everything you know." Henry demanded. "You have to find out for yourself." Henry didn't understand. "If I healed you, you would never heal."

He studied her gold jewelry in her burgundy locs a little closer..

"You're an angel." Henry said, finally figuring it out. "No, but I can be if you want me to be." Althea smiled and walked ahead leaving Henry truly staggered behind.

"You want me to take more initiative? Here!" Heelix laid out a map flat down on the table where Geneviene was sitting with a friend.

They were in the coffee shop and he intruded on her date. "We look here. All of these are points where Mono can be. We kill her." Geneviene looked revitalized by looking up at Heelix. "And then we kill Myers." He startled her with how dead set on Mono he was.

"The feeling was euphoric." Henry looked to Althea to see if she was judging.

"It was gruesome.. I was running through the trees, I couldn't see anything.. I didn't know where I was but I was surrounded by trees."

The truth began to dawn on Henry.

"I couldn't see myself hurting Heelix."

Althea stopped and showed compassion with her soft eyes. "I was just a dog running free in the woods.."

Then Henry remembered.

A wolf bit onto Henry's leg, holding on to it like a chew toy.
