It was Amari's funeral.
[Henry's journal]
~
"If it wasn't peace I felt with Amari, it was something greater. The world became silent when I was with her."
~Henry held Amari's picture he took of her at a restaurant.
A knock at Henry's door.
It was Mono!?
All she did was hand me a letter.
It was my invite to Amari's funeral held by our military team. She wasn't even really in the military but they hosted a funeral for her.
I wonder what type of training she did to impress them that much.
I left my room.
Jade was waiting..
"I'm so sorry Hare!" She said, hugging me.. tight.
"Are you gonna go?" She said she would go with me.. for her support.. If I needed to cry.
..
[Funeral]"Here lies a great militarian, not only a military woman, a great woman. A daring woman, and a bright individual, a leader, a fighter, someone who you could look up to. Someone who.. would have made a great asset to our team.. To our military team.. Thank you!"
Henry couldn't help but to look at Mono.
She mouthed to him..
"It's too soon." Then rolled her eyes.
"And so, let's leave our flowers."
I walked up to a closed casket of course, and dropped my flowers.
I didn't see any of Amari's family there.
I saw Captain so I avoided him.
..
"Where you going? Captains waiting for ya?""What's it to you? I didn't see you cry."
"Why would I? Will that bring her back?"
I thought.
"So you're more of a logical thinker, don't react so much on emotion."
"Why did she love you?"
Why would you even care.
I squinted with my eyes.
I leaned into her.
"That's a bold, extremely personal question to ask. How would you care to know?"
Mono walked off.
"You're Henry."
A tall older man approached me. It was Amari's trainer.
He was very tall..
"I scouted Amari when she was this little.."
He pointed to his waist that could've been my height..
I nodded my head and smiled through the eased discomfort when a silence followed.
It became very awkward and he'd just stare at me, squinting..
"She was.. curious about you. She was so intrigued that she read up on all your missions. She admired you.."
It felt weird.
"She saw you as a hero? A fighter.."
He was looking at me so fucking confused, like he wasn't sure if he was actually seeing what Amari spoke so highly of.
He squinted at me even further, then he said this into my ear..
"I disagree." and walked off.
..
(Amari's poem: last message)
~
My klaus, my beast, my eye
I've heard you died a million times
I've heard you want me to pick a side
But I can not stop this hurt I feel inside
You've left me born without a son
You left me there when I was young
I loved, I tried, but it is now my time
The witch in me still haunts me inside
