Chapter 25: Mission Ready

Myers suspended the captain for almost letting Mono escape. Not sure how it was his fault because no one saw it coming. The men came out of nowhere! And Mono surprised all of us! But I guess Myers had already known.. And so did Captain.

So why suspend the Captain? But anyways, I cleared my head from all that to get ready for this mission!

Here's who's equipped..

We had, "David, Emily, Grace, John, and Amari.." And Heelix had joined me. None of who were equipped besides Amari, and Amari's power were pretty useless..

We took a plane to my surprise.. This team had money. Or Myers just cared for our lives this time since after the train exploded.

[The Plane Ride]
Heelix seemed a little on edge. Always biting his nails. I never saw him like this. And Amari didn't speak to us. She just sat in the back of the plane.. and we never spoke to any of our other teammates.. They all just had this.. feeling? They all seemed happy. So full of joy! Real close like a real family! All laughing together..

That reminded me of my real team.. Alice and Cade.. We were all happy.. With the others too.. Chad and Ashley.

"Destination reached.. Welcome to Muerte island!"

We got off the plane with nothing to carry. "This seems like fun!" Henry said too soon.

Grace was our captain and she directed us to the safe zone on the island. Our mission here was to ??????

I actually don't remember.

"Here Casper.." "No I don't need that- But you do need your inhaler! It's a lot of walking Heelix." I was relieved to have been sent on an island just to carry out a simple mission for Myers. It gave me nostalgia of those times I would dream and beg to have a mission just like this with Alice.. I thought of how I only dreamed of enjoying all of this with her..

She deserved this.

We got here early at seven in the morning so we would leave just before dark. Only spending about a few hours here.

I watched the other teammates play in the water, chase after each other, splashing like kids..

"You know muerte means death right?"

I looked down at Amari in the sand. "You know you're too old to play in the sand like a kid right?"

I walked away from her being negative.

Heelix was toying with this wooden stick. "What you doing with that?" "Creating a spear.." "You know we don't need any weapons-" "Who said we were the only ones on the island?" Henry's face became red. "This sphere.. is for you.. Since you're not allowed to have any weapons." "Then how come you guys don't have any weapons yourselves? Why is the other team the only ones with them?"

Then I thought.. Muerte means death.
..
It was hard not to enjoy the peaceful island even with all my chaotic, consistent thoughts floating around, overflowing my mind like the waves crashed on the shore.. The water brushing my feet made it feel better.

"It's time to leave.." The captain told us. She already walked away, not even waiting for us! Amari followed.
..
"So you think Myers sent us here to be killed?" Amari made her funny face. "Woah, WHAT? You think that team is gonna pull out their spheres and kill us?" I joked.

They looked back.

"What if this is a suicide mission and we've all just decided to die? And you're.. just now hearing about it?" "Not funny."

We were walking through the woods.

"Shh.." Grace shushed us! She pulled out her arrow from her quiver.. We all stood there trying to listen to whatever we missed. She looked up at the trees so we did too..

A monkey.. She put her arrow away.

I scoffed.

A man jumped down from a tree and landed on Amari!

She had pushed me out of the way so he landed on her instead. Grace aimed her arrow at the man who was attacking Amari. I stood right there. Heelix tackled the man off her, stabbing him in the chest when he came at him next.

He died.

"What the fuck?!" I never heard Heelix swear. "What the hell was that?" He said to Grace. She gave a careless look. "Then we'll just go our separate ways!" "And where are you gonna go?" Grace demanded. "Somewhere where WE are safe!"

She said this to him while he was walking away, "I didn't know if the man was an enemy or not." "It's the death island for Lord's sake!" Heelix tried to whisper. "And I might not know what the hell is going on here, or whatever you've been tricked into doing! But YOU don't have our backs.. We're better off alone!"

Heelix walked off wanting us to follow.

Grace gave a look of stupidity to Heelix.

"Looks like your team isn't following you." She put her arrow away and began walking..

We followed her.

Amari was okay..
..
"I didn't expect you to do anything Casper. No one does.. But I was surprised Heelix did.. He wasn't supposed to have any weapons." "It wasn't your fault a man came and attacked you! What else would Heelix do?" I thought to myself.. "I'll tell Myers what happened.. And say.. Someone had given him the knife.. Since they're already telling." "They don't have to.." She looked at my chest.

"Amari? Here, we need your help.." Grace said calling her over. Heelix walked up to me as we watched them bring something down from the tree.

"You think Myers is mad at us?" He looked up from my suit then at my eyes.

"Heelix?" Grace called.

They brought down a pen?

"It's an alarm.." She said toying with it then throwing it into the bushes when it started blinking. "It's to detect motion."

David laid it in the grass and destroyed it with his disintegrator ray.

"I would hate to have that used on me by mistake." Amari laughed at my humor. She always giving me a laugh or smiling at my jokes no matter how corny they were.

We cooked squirrels and ate leftover fish that was hunted earlier on the beach by the team.

All though, tensions grew.. We were still at one of the most beautiful and only beach I've ever seen.

We were in Paradise.
