Chapter Sixteen: Another Lockdown

It was Saturday. I was back home with Katherine. The lockdown was still going on. It had been days and no one was flying. The "Assasins" threatned to bomb the League's airport. The LEAGUE was always getting threats. If not for terrorists, I would have gone home. But The LEAGUE didn't seem to care enough, they were still having their missions like it wasn't going on.

I hadn't seen Heelix in a while and I didn't see Mono. It's like they took her away from me or hid me from everyone. I was going to meet with Myers to see if he would send me on another mission but Captain told me I wasn't "all the way here.." Myers had been out anyway for a couple weeks.. He was on a trip. Myers didn't tell anyone where his vacations were.. Probably because of the bomb threats. There weren't many people left here.

It was Christmas and Guen still hadn't came home.

I couldn't call her either. But my parents were never worried because they knew she wasn't alone.. She had her fiancé and my parents ended up loving him without ever even meeting him. I wanted to spend today with my parents. I had promised them last year that this year I was coming, but I found out I still wasn't allowed to see them.

I had a Christmas present for Mono. I had gifts for all the girls I've ever spoken to at the force. I didn't know what Mono liked, but I got her something that was memorable to me.

"An amulet?" I stayed quiet. Her hair in pigtails. She was wearing a red velvet jumpsuit with elf ears.

Someone had told her..

"You tried giving me your dead girlfriend's necklace?!" She threw it at the floor disgusted and walked away.

This wasn't the first time I was here on Christmas.. But it felt weird because I wasn't working. So I really had no reason to be here at all.. I always had somewhere to be on Christmas! They were always sending me off to places.. I would never even know it was the holiday!

Heelix got to spend his "Christmas" the day before with his family. Even if he couldn't really spend the day of Christmas with them, at least he got the time off! This was Guen's third Christmas away.. I called my parents to make sure they were fine.. and they were! But they were more worried about me.

I thought since it was Christmas Day.. I'd go to see Heelix's wife.. But then I thought of something better to do!

My niece would have to wait.. I still made a good uncle thinking of going to see her when her father couldn't.. I already had mailed her present anyway!

I found these files in our captain's room. They were on Heelix's last mission with Mono but I saw some from when our train had exploded..

I looked through them and saw Captain was assigned to my failed mission? And that he had assigned Heelix to it.. But the mission that Mono and Heelix were just on.. On the island.. Captain was assigned that too? But Mono was supposed to be on a different team, but he moved her to that mission.. I saw more files on Captain moving people around to make Mono and Heelix be on the same team..

I started to wonder why Captain had been setting up all these missions for Mono and Heelix to be together.. but then I realized! I didn't care and it didn't bother me. None of it affected me anyway! But none of those missions, where Captain moved them were signed off..

That means Myers never approved of Captain putting them on the same teams to be together.

I always questioned Captain's intentions and his legitimacy.. but I never cared enough to really look at his actions. I felt like maybe I was intruding on what he was doing if maybe something bigger was going on? But I didn't grow the courage to bring this information to Myers.. Why would anyone question the Captain's actions anyway? This one was for Myers to find out..

It was 2am and I left the facility to go home to Katherine.

She was cooking and Jade came over.

Another Christmas, was just another Saturday..
