Christopher's P.O.V.

My whole family had suddenly gathered in the piano room. I got irritated with Keanu. He ran into the room screaming like a banshee. I wondered how he would react if my brother truly got hurt. Evander ignored Keanu and said, "My child has gone through a lot since birth. I won't let anyone intimidate the poor boy." My grandfather grabbed Ceasar's hand and pulled him up. He then gazed at Maxim and said, "A little tough love won't hurt the child. Look how Christopher turned out."

I lost my mind when Ceasar smirked. I walked up to my grandfather and said, "Stop spouting nonsense, grandfather. You, people, didn't raise me right. I'm always bitter and angry. I would have destroyed the empire long ago if I wasn't such a greedy man." My grandfather huffed and uttered, "Watch what you say in front of the guests, Chris!" I shook my head and asked. "Did my husband and child suddenly become foreign to you people, grandfather? Should I show you the documents where you forced me to marry Evander King and accept his son as my own?"

My father jumped into the conversation and asked, "Where are your manners, Christopher? That's your grandfather you are talking to, boy. Evander has to apologize to Ceasar. He didn't deserve to be kicked and choked by him." Maxim squealed when his father slammed Ceasar's face against the wall. Ceasar grabbed his broken and bloody nose and yelled, "Are you nuts? Do you want to kill me or what?" Evander straightened his tie and replied, "Oh, calm down. I was soft on you. And how dare you get angry? I should have broken that thick skull of yours instead."

My mother clenched her fists and yelled, "Get away from Evander, Ceasar! He is dangerous!" I pushed Ceasar back and stated, "Not until he apologizes for scaring the child, mom." Ceasar growled and declared, "I didn't do anything wrong, mom!" I got startled when Maxim shouted, "My daddy said that liars die horrible deaths. That's why I never lie to him." I glared at Evander. The man chuckled, then stated, "It worked, so no harm done." My father sighed and said, "Own up to your mistakes, Ceasar. So we can get this over with." Ceasar glared at me. It was like he wanted to slaughter me. Maxim smiled when Ceasar said, "I'm sorry for saying such awful things about your father and you, little omega."

Evander grabbed Ceasar's shoulder and stated, "My son has a name." Ceasar gazed at Evander's hand, then uttered, "My apologies for forgetting your name, Maxim King." Maxim giggled and asked, "Would you like to be my friend, sir? I have no one to play with." Keanu pulled Ceasar away and said, "Be careful, Ceasar. I don't want our first child to be an omega. I heard that innocent souls call out to each other." Evander stared at the couple in disbelief. My grandfather groaned, then declared, "You two need to leave before you embarrass me more." My grandmother and mother accompanied the couple. I was about to leave when my father uttered, "I would appreciate it if you didn't visit our house from now on, Evander. We can meet at a restaurant if you need to discuss something with us."

I turned around to face my father. Maxim had fortunately fallen asleep. What would the boy think if he accidentally heard he wasn't welcome at my house? I handed Maxim to Evander and said, "I worked hard to build this house, father. And you are telling me that the people I care about aren't welcome here?" My grandfather grabbed my hand and said, "You know how fragile Keanu is, Chris. The feud between Ceasar and Evander won't end anytime soon. They will fight every time they meet. I don't want Keanu to suffer because of them. That is why I asked Evander to stay away."

I rubbed my face in frustration and yelled, "When will you all stop favoring those two? You all are a bunch of hypocrites. I'm the one who works like a dog for this family. I haven't had a vacation since I turned eighteen. Guess how many times Ceasar used our private jet this month alone. That little shit sits on his ass and spends money like a drunken sailor. But no one ever reprimands him. It's about time I thought about myself. I'm leaving the family and the empire. I can't wait to see how capable your precious heir is."

I gazed at Evander and stated, "Wait in the car for me. I'll be right out." My father tried to persuade me to stay. I ignored my grandfather's and father's pleas and ran up the stairs. I put all my valuables and documents in a suitcase and left. I knew my mother would cry, but I was too angry to care. Evander rubbed my back when I stepped into the car. He sighed, then said, "We have to honor the marriage contract. I just talked to my lawyer. He said that your parents could sue us for breaching the agreement." I rubbed my forehead and replied, "Things weren't supposed to go down like this. I was going to organize my life first, then retaliate. I lost my mind when they forbade you guys from visiting the house. Who would want to breathe in that toxic air anyway?"

Evander stroked Maxim's head, then asked, "What are you going to do now?" I gazed out of the window, then replied, "Everything is ready. I will take a short break, then take over the leader's position at my businesses. That was what I had initially planned to do anyway." My phone started ringing suddenly. I turned it off and focused on solving my problems. Evander's parents weren't surprised when they heard I had left the family. My parents had already contacted them. Lenna and Julius King didn't have much to say to the two. Evander had already received an email from my father stating that he wasn't allowed to breach our marriage contract. I decided to stay at Evander's house for the time being. I called my assistant and told him what had happened. Duncan agreed to join me.

I visited all my businesses with Duncan the next day. I went straight home after making arrangements with my staff. Maxim was playing with colorful blocks when I arrived. The little boy giggled while running towards me. I scooped him up and hugged him tightly. Evander walked into the house and said, "I received an invitation from the Go Smart company today. All your business partners will be there. Do you want to join me?" I contemplated, then replied, "Sure. It would be best to spread the word about my departure from the empire now than later. I hate explaining unnecessary things to people."

My father had called me once again. He had handled the business in my stead that day. I knew he would try to visit me at Evander's house if I didn't answer his call. I picked up my phone and said, "I already said what I had to say, dad. Please, don't bother me again." I turned off my phone, then went to have dinner with the King family. It was soon time for the party. I was suddenly dreading going with Evander. I didn't know how to face people.

Evander and I chose to wear tuxedos. No one seemed to know I had left the company. My father did his best to keep it a secret. I was surprised when one of my business partners asked me if I had enjoyed my time in Fiji. Evander had left my side long ago. I was about to look for him when I spotted a good friend of mine. I walked toward Richard and hugged him from behind. The man could instantly tell who had attacked him. Richard hugged me tightly and uttered, "I haven't seen you in a while, Chris. How have you been?"

I grinned and replied, "Well. I have left the family." Richard dragged me to the garden and asked, "Are you crazy? How are you going to survive without your family?" I patted Richard's cheek, then asked, "Haven't you heard I got married?" Richard smirked and replied, "Yeah, I heard. Isn't that him right there?" The blood drained from my face when I spotted Evander with none other than the waiter, Aiden Jeffrey.

It looked like Evander enjoyed Aiden's company very much. The boy grabbed Evander's arm while laughing. Richard patted my back and asked, "Is it true that he cheated on you on the first night of your marriage, Chris? You truly deserve someone better. Have you heard that Callum is back? I met him a few days ago. He would like to meet you. I promised to relay the message whenever I saw you." Callum and I dated for a few years in college. I had no feelings for him now. It was best to avoid the prick.

Richard grabbed my hand while I was observing Aiden and Van. He dragged me inside and said, "I'm tired. The sofa is free. Let's enjoy our drink there." Richard and I were busy catching up when Evander walked into the room. Evander took off his shoes and jacket, then said, "Lend me your lap for a bit. I have a headache." I, fortunately, had a box of Aspirin in my pocket. I grabbed a glass of water and handed the medicine and it to Evander. Evander took the Aspirin, then put his head on my lap. I sighed when he grasped my hand and fell asleep. Richard chuckled when Aiden appeared.

The man smiled and asked, "Is Mr. King asleep, sir? He asked me to grab him some food. I got summoned in the middle of dishing out food for Mr. King. That's why I'm late." I gazed at Evander, then uttered, "Put the food down on the coffee table. I'm sure he will appreciate your efforts when he wakes up. Now leave." Richard laughed after Aiden left. I huffed when he stated, "It seems like someone is jealous." I was about to reply to my friend when I spotted my father.
