Christopher's P.O.V

I hadn't had any health issues before. So I couldn't understand why it suddenly felt like my stomach was about to explode. It was probably due to my pregnancy. Evander sighed, then stated before leaving the room, "Find out what the thieves want, Syl, and change all the shipping container numbers immediately. They will be using our site to track down the shipment. The change will confuse the hell out of them. I have something to do right now. I'll be back in a minute." Syl took a seat, then turned on his tablet. He got busy communicating back and forth with Evander's men and forgot about me. I clutched my stomach when Evander returned with a doctor. Evander grabbed my hand and said, "This is my husband, Christopher. You probably already know him. Chris has been throwing up like crazy. Can you find out what's wrong with him? I'll be waiting for you in the family room."

I calmed myself down, then said, "I'm fine, Van. I don't need a check-up. And don't you have better things to do?" Evander huffed and replied, "I told you that my family was my priority, didn't I?" I looked in astonishment at Van. "Does this mean that I'm his family too?" I thought. The doctor led me to the bed after Evander left. The man smiled at me, then stated, "Hi, I'm Dr. Smith. The examination will only take a minute. Try to relax." I gazed at the door, then said, "I already know what's wrong with me, doctor. I'm a month pregnant. I just found out today. I didn't get time to share the good news with my husband. Could you keep it from him for now? I want to surprise him. And you don't have to worry about my health. I have already found an obstetrician to oversee my pregnancy."

Dr. Smith nodded and asked, "Can I have this obstetrician's number? I want to discuss something with him." I grabbed my phone and gave the man my obstetrician's number. Dr. Smith walked out of the room to contact Dr. Soren. I heard Evander ask him how the examination went. It was tiring hiding my pregnancy. I decided to tell Evander the truth. I still felt nauseous. I climbed into bed and waited for the doctor to return. Dr. Smith returned with a bottle of pills. He handed the bottle to me and uttered, "I have talked to Soren. He said it was safe to give you this medication. These tablets are for getting rid of nausea. Mr. King took one to check if they were safe. The sooner you tell him about the baby, the better. He's worried about you, sir. You are lucky to have a mate like him." I checked the tablets, then thanked the doctor. I tried to wait for Evander, but the medication made me sleepy. I took a shower and went to bed.

Evander was ready to leave the hospital when I woke up. He kissed my cheek and asked, "How are you feeling?" I ran my fingers through my hair and replied, "Much better than before. Where are you going so early in the morning?" Van straightened his silk tie and stated, "I'm going to the harbor. I want to inspect the site myself. The culprits, fortunately, didn't get the chance to steal anything last night. I wonder what they were looking for. I'll see you at home. Take it easy, okay? Bye." Evander walked out of the room before I could tell him anything. I took a shower, then packed all our belongings and went home.

Julius and Lenna were having breakfast with Maxim in the garden. Maxim jumped off his chair, then ran to me. I scooped up the boy and kissed his head. Maxim began telling me how much fun he had with his grandparents at the zoo the day before. The boy's grandparents probably wanted to cheer him up. Lenna greeted me, then asked, "Where is Van, Chris? He promised to return home with you." I sat down and replied, "Van went to investigate the harbor. He still can't figure out what the attackers wanted." Julius huffed, then declared, "I told Van to leave the matter alone. He should have thought about his health first." Lenna stroked her husband's back and said, "You know how our son is, darling. He won't rest till he gets to the bottom of this."

I winced when Aiden appeared. The guy smiled broadly, then stated, "It's time for your medication, Mrs. King." Lenna smiled and uttered, "Thank you, Aiden." I helped Maxim finish his meal, then left the table. I went straight to my room. I was exhausted and didn't feel like going to work that day. I called Duncan, then changed my clothes. I was about to take a nap when Julius knocked on my door. The man smiled and asked, "Can I come in, Chris?" I nodded, then sat on my bed. Julius patted my shoulder and said, "Lenna and I are proud of you, Chris. You took care of everything in Van's absence. We were worried about the company and Maxim. You put our minds at ease by showing how much you care. I'm sorry, but we have to trouble you again, son. We didn't want to hire Aiden, but we had no choice. He already knows how our family works. I can see why you don't like him. You can fire Aiden if you want. Please note, you have to find someone more reliable than him before we leave."

I sighed, then stated, "It's alright, father. Aiden can stay for now. Evander won't appreciate it if I got rid of him." Lenna walked into my room suddenly and said, "You are wrong, Chris. Van will respect your decision to fire Aiden." Lenna kissed her husband's cheek, then said, "Can I talk to Chris alone for a minute, darling?" Julius nodded, then left. Lenna joined me on the bed, then asked, "Are you pregnant, Chris?" I looked at Lenna in shock. The woman smiled, then said, "You don't have to be afraid, Chris. Maxim told me about it. He's a light sleeper, so he heard what the doctor said. He is happy to have a sibling." Lenna turned to face me, then asked, "I might sound rude, but I have to know. Is this Van's child, Chris?" I nodded, then replied, "I haven't slept with anyone other than Evander since the ceremony." Lenna kissed my temple and stated, "Great, I'm happy. Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. I have asked Maxim not to tell anyone about it too. Van will be delighted when he hears the news."

I was about to thank Lenna for her support when Maxim yelled, "Grandma! Daddy's home!" Lenna stroked my head and said, "I want you to know that my husband and I will support you through anything, Chris. Don't be afraid to ask for help or to tell me when you don't feel good." "Well, at least someone knows my secret," I thought while rubbing my face in frustration. I decided to stay in my room and rest. I woke up late in the afternoon. I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and was hungry. I went downstairs to grab a snack. Aiden was in the kitchen. I sighed when I saw him making dinner. I grabbed an apple and said, "Where is everyone, Aiden?" Aiden replied without looking at me, "Mr. and Mrs. King went shopping with Maxim. They are currently preparing for their trip. Van is sleeping in his room. He wanted to eat meat. So I'm preparing steak for the family."

I frowned, then stated, "I would appreciate it if you didn't do things like this in the future. It's my job to make sure there is food on the table. If I'm too busy to cook, then our chef will do it. Just concentrate on your daily tasks. You will otherwise confuse the other employees." Aiden put the knife down and asked, "What do you have against me? I never did anything to hurt you. I mean no harm, Chris. Van is a good friend of mine. I saw how troubled he was. I wanted to do something for the man who helped me in my dark days. You meddled in my affairs and ruined everything." I laughed, then said, "Who do you think you are talking to, Aiden? Leave everything as they are and get lost. I have had enough of your attitude."

Evander stepped into the kitchen while yawning. He drank a glass of water and said, "Wow, something smells good here." Aiden chuckled and replied, "It's the meat, Van. I was preparing steak for you, but Chris then fired me. I have to drop everything and leave the house now." Van looked in my direction and asked, "What did he do to irk you, Chris?" I groaned and replied, "Aiden has been doing unnecessary stuff since your father hired him. He always retorts when I tell him something. I wonder if he is here to fulfill his duties or to please you?" I groaned when Evander threw his arm around my waist and asked, "Are you jealous of him, love?"

I pushed Evander and stated, "In your dreams." Van gazed at Aiden and said, "You should leave now, Aiden. We will see each other soon." Aiden glared at me. He washed his hands and declared, "I'm looking forward to having dinner with you, Van. Good luck telling Van your secret, Chris. I'm an omega, remember? I can feel it growing in you." I wanted to kill Aiden right here and then but controlled myself. He was such a despicable man. I shook my head and said, "It seems like I have created another problem by firing him." Evander gazed at Aiden, then asked, "What is he talking about, Chris? And don't worry. I won't contact him." I grabbed Evander's hand and replied, "I'll tell you later. Your parents and Maxim will be home soon. Help me prepare dinner for them." I should have known I wouldn't get to tell Evander anything that night.
