Christopher's P.O.V

Everything was going great for the moment. I didn't hear anything from my family again. It was like they had disappeared from the face of the earth. The meeting with my obstetrician went great. I had a hard time accepting my pregnancy in the beginning. I then realized that I was in a different environment now. People loved me without expecting anything in return. Maxim was over the moon when he heard about his sister. He could hardly wait to meet her. Achilles was too young to understand anything. The child possessed all the dominant alpha traits. He was happy one moment and angry the next.

Evander and I were busy. We were in search of people who could cope with long working hours. I was in my third trimester and wanted to take things slow. I was on a break when Evander walked into my office. He kissed my cheek and said, "Let's have lunch together, Chris." I wasn't hungry. I hugged Evander and said, "Let's do something else instead." Van cupped my face and stared into my eyes. I could sense that he was angry. I chuckled when Evander uttered, "I love making love to you, but your health is more important than anything right now."

I kissed Evander, then followed him to the car. I dozed off during the ride. Van stroked my head when we arrived at the restaurant. He smiled and declared, "It looks like our daughter is giving you trouble. Why don't you go home early today?" I gazed at my watch and replied, "I'll think about it." Our food soon arrived. The waiter looked lustfully at Evander. I sighed while grabbing a drink. Van had eyes only for me, but his past still popped into my head. Evander put his cutlery down when I asked, "Do you ever think about the past, Van?" Van grabbed my hand and replied, "No, why? Do you have doubts about something?"

I gazed into Evander's eyes and answered, "I sometimes wonder what would have happened if you had rejected Leonard's offer that day. I can still remember how you mocked me whenever you saw me." Evander shook his head and stated, "I was drunk with power back then. And to tell you the truth, I always wanted to have you as my trophy wife." I almost choked on a piece of meat. Evander patted my back and said, "Be careful, Chris. I wouldn't know how to survive without you." I wiped my mouth clean and uttered, "You are despicable." Van kissed my temple and declared, "Come on. Let's eat. The food is getting cold."

Evander and I reminisced while eating. I went straight home after lunch. Maxim squealed when I walked through the door. He hugged my leg and said, "Achilles got angry at a butterfly today, Papa. He didn't want the creature to bother grandma's flowers. It was funny to watch him chase it away. He almost fell on his face while flailing his arms." I kissed Maxim's head and asked, "Where is your little brother now, Maxim?" Maxim grinned and replied, "He is napping with grandma upstairs. Grandpa is keeping me company. He is in the garden. I came inside to grab a drink." I followed Maxim to the terrace. My father-in-law was reading a book. He greeted me, then asked, "Are you having trouble with your health, son?"

I sat down and replied, "No, father. I'm just tired. I started feeling better the moment I walked into the house." My father-in-law smiled and uttered, "That's great to hear, son. Oh, Duncan came by today. Everything is ready. Maxim can start kindergarten next school year. I'm going to miss the little rascal." Maxim had climbed onto my lap. I hugged the little boy and stated, "I'll miss him too, Father." I took a nap after chatting with my father-in-law. Evander woke me up when he got home.

I took a shower, then went to have dinner with the family. Evander's aunt and uncle were at the dinner table. I hadn't seen them in months. Van's aunt hugged me and stated, "We were in the neighborhood for a party and thought we would surprise you all. I'm so happy to hear that you are pregnant again. It was hard to conceive in this family before. Things have changed since you arrived." I chuckled and stated, "It's not due to me, ma'am. I think the King family's younger generation is more active in babymaking than ever." Evander's aunt laughed and replied, "You are right, Chris. One is getting married next month. He is six months pregnant at the moment. You are all invited to the shotgun wedding."
