Chapter 24

Becca’s P.O.V

I followed the scent of pancakes and maple syrup to the kitchen, I could hear Beau shushing everyone before I appeared at the door.

‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAUTIFUL’ Beau screamed, running up to me and spinning me round as James filmed. Beau put me down and started to kiss me passionately.

‘Whoah guys, we don’t want the keek to be x rated’ James joked, finishing the recording.

‘Do you guys seriously have to film everything?’ I rolled my eyes laughing. ‘Thank you, is this really all for me?’

Beau nodded as he passed me a stack of pancakes, the top one with a candle on top. Luke smiled as he instagramed a photo of me with my birthday ‘cake.’ I started to tuck into the pancakes when Skip ran up beside me, giving me a tight hug.

‘Happy birthday Becs, and how old are you today then?’ he joked, stealing one of my pancakes.

‘Eighteen’ I smiled.

‘Oh my god, you’ve got to come out with me and Beau tonight, we can show you all the best clubs in Melbourne. Oh come on Becca, it’s the big one, eight!’ Skip said excitedly, trailing off on the list of different clubs him and Beau went to.

‘I’m alright thanks, after everything that’s happened I just want a quiet get together, I’ve already cleared it with Katy and she said everyone’s free to come to ours tonight’

‘But it’s your eighteenth! I want to make it special for you’ Beau said.

‘You already have silly’ I shook my head as playfully hit him.

I finished my pancakes before Beau quickly ran off to his room then came back holding a small box. He handed it to me sheepishly, Skip, James and Luke watched me as I carefully ripped the pale purple tissue paper and loosened the purple ribbon tied around the box. I opened it to reveal a silver necklace in the shape of a pad lock. Tears started to fill my eyes as I held the necklace in my hands.

‘I didn’t know if you’d like it not, I got Lily to help me and Mum thought it was cute as well’ Beau smiled.

‘It’s absolutely perfect, thank you’ I replied hugging him as he fastened the necklace around my neck.

‘Go on’ Gina told Beau as she joined us in the living room. I looked at him confused as he pushed up his sleeve to show a thin leather bracelet around his wrist with a matching silver key threaded on to it.

‘So when you go back to England, we’ll still always be together’ He bit his lip as tears started to fall down my cheeks.

‘Don’t cry on your birthday!’ Gina laughed, giving me a small hug. I chuckled to myself as I wiped away my tears and thanked Beau one last time. Gina headed out to collect Jai and Lily from the hospital as Beau started to clean up the mess he had made in the kitchen.
