Ruby Hoodly

My heart pounded as I sat in the plane seat. My life started off great I was happy I had a mother, a father who both loved me then he came into my life turning it all to hell. There was no way I would ever forget it.

I walked through the halls of my junior year in high school. It was great my mom just bought me a bunch of new clothes. I was walking with my friends down the hall, I was the daughter of the beta in the pack so I was pretty up there in the chart of popular. I reached my locker and started to pull my books out when Jenna my close friend stated "ooh girl look at that. Nathan is heading this way." I glanced seeing alpha Nathan Jotan. Walking down the hall with his pals. Rumor is Nathan just turned 18 and he can find his luna now. I watched as Nathan's eyes snapped to our direction and he sniffed the air. He stormed our way and then pushed the girls aside. I went back to my book and heard "Ruby." I looked at him and tucked some hair behind my ear.

"yeah alpha?" I asked his eyes darkened and he stated "we need to talk." I raised a brow and he grabbed my arm pulling me away. He led me to the stairs were no one would see us. "what's wrong alpha?" I asked he took a deep breath and stated "you know I'm with Grace right?" I nodded and he stated "this is gonna be harder then I thought um... I can't be your mate." He stated. My eyes widened. "I'm your?" he nodded and said "I can't break Gracie's heart." I nodded and said "so as a beta I come in second." He nodded with a smile. "you get it good then um don't make a big scene out of this ok?" he turned and walked away. Did he not know that Graice had a mate as well that she would leave him just like he left me.

 I walked down the hall I could feel every one's pitty. I haven't shifted yet and my family's not sure if I will you see my mom wasn't a wolf she was a human well my real mom was anyways. I have a step mom now and a step sister, my sister is Gracie. The same Graice whose dating my mate. I couldn't be here not like this. I ran out of the school as everyone moved out of my way. They felt pitty for me I was supposed to be their luna. The right hand of the alpha to help lead the pack into peace and happiness but I was rejected by my mate for my step sister who hated my guts. As soon as I ran into the house my mom caught me in her arms and let me cry into her chest. Dad ran in after me and said "honey..." I just cried my mate didn't want me and he wanted my stepsister so I would see him all the time loving her instead of me.

 Mom lifted my face and said "your aunt called." My aunt was from my birth mothers side of the family she wasn't like my mom but she knew about the wolf thing. I looked up and dad stated "she said she wanted you to come visit her for a while but now I'm thinking you should go live with her." I nodded and my dad stated. "I'll give her a call." I sobbed into my mother chest.

 That was the day I decided to move to my aunts house. I mean you only have one soul mate in this life and mine didn't want anything to do with me not to mention I probably would never shift into a wolf. I was probably an outcast. The plane landed and I got off with my one carryon bag. As I walked over to the baggage claim I picked up my bag and walked for the exit. "RUBY!!" I heard Aunt May's voice. I turned seeing my aunt she looked exactly like my mom except her eyes were a deep brown while my mom's was a hazel color. I walked over to her and she pulled me into a hug. "honey it's ok." I nodded and said "it's fine Aunt May. I already decided I'm not gonna let a guys break my heart cause he's a jerk I'm gonna be me and not care." She smiled and said "you sound just like your mother girl power all the way." I smiled.

I sat in the passenger seat we drove through the town, I looked at all the small shops I've been here only once when I was a kid but that was years ago. I leaned my head on the window seeing kids my age walking and laughing. I tried to remember if their was a pack here or not. I didn't want anything to do with a pack anymore. I might as well be a rogue. Aunt May pulled up to her house and asked "ready honey?" I nodded. Aunt May told me on the phone she was married to a new man with a step son. I took a deep breath and walked to the door. Aunt May walked to the door and put a hand on my shoulder, "ready to meet your cousin?" I nodded and we walked in as soon as my foot touched the inside of the doorway I was pulled into a hug. I felt the strong arms this guy was way over my height.
