"Lord! Have you lost your mind woman?!"
Sofia slowly opens her squeezed-shut eyes at the voice and at once they get assaulted by the bright lights which were now flickered on, one hand placed on her pounding chest, the other still holding the pitcher blinking twice to get stabilised with the change in lights.
When her eyes focused on the profile of the person standing in front of her at a good distance of six feet he was scowling at her with pure annoyance that flashed across his face so damn clearly.
He was tall and broad with sharp features, icy brown eyes lighter than hers were narrowed towards her with a slight ire, thick dark eyebrows furrowed, strong jaw clenched under the light stubble of his beard, a three-piece suit clinching his body perfect parts and a dark strand of his long her in a man bun falls down his eyes that he pushed back still looking at her, now with a mixture of ire and curiosity.
If she wasn't used to Arsalan's scowling she would have cowardly backed at his hard-as-ice gaze on her. He had the personality same as her husband "I haven't. Seems like you have"
He tilted his head keeping his eyes on her "yeah? Wasn't the one shouting like a maniac"
Sofia gave him her sweet smile "wasn't the one roaming around in the dark like a stupid ghost"
"A ghost who almost had a heart attack" he counters back at her sarcastic reply "this is my house I do whatever I wanna do. Who the hell are you?"
"Rude," Sofia said and walked past him halting as she reaches the threshold of the kitchen looked over her shoulder and resumed "someone who you shouldn't have talked to with a tone like that" she catches a flicker of amusement past his gaze before they disappear behind the dark rings of his light brown eyes.
Leaving behind the man in the kitchen that looked bewildered by her tone of confidence she immediately took the flights of stairs climbing them frantically; she passed the dim light hallways as fast as her leg could take her while balancing the pitcher on her hand.
She loved horror movies but she wasn't up to witnessing one in real life. God, that was one hell of an almost horror experience she went through and wishing it to never happen ever again with that thought she enters the room and closes the door with a soft click so that she doesn't disturb Arsalan's sleep. She was surprised no one emerged from their room with the way her loud shriek echoed in the kitchen. She thought she might have woken up half of the manor but no one actually did. Were the walls soundproof? And then she remembers no one barely lives in the west wing half of the family was situated in the east wing.
Fetching a glass from her bedside table she pours the water for herself and setting the pitcher back she sits slowly on her side of the bed and drinks the water. All that commemoration made her forget that she was parched.
Sliding into the warm blankets she closed her eyes pushing the almost haunting event into the back of her mind.
*****
The soothing warm rays of the sun glide in through the arched windows of Sofia and Arsalan's room tiny dust particles dancing in the bright rays as Sofia retells the story of what happened yesterday night.
