The Neighbourhood - The Beach (instrumental) 🫶

...

As the sun began to set, casting an orange glow across the sky, I found myself on the rooftop of a building. The wind was picking up, causing my hair to whip around my face as I focused on the intel in front of me.

I held the documents of a team I was supposed to take care of, to eliminate in the near future. I saw pictures of their faces and read through their profiles. The names of John "Soap" MacTavish, John Price, Simon "Ghost" Riley, and others sounded familiar, but memories seemed so distant and unreachable.

And despite the stunning sunset and the cool breeze, I still felt a heavy void in my chest. I couldn't help but wonder who I was and what I had done to end up in this position. Was it really my life's real purpose, I thought?

Was I really meant to kill?

To destroy?

But the more I looked through the intel, the more frustrated and confused I became. It was like staring at a puzzle with missing pieces, knowing the answer was right in front of me but unable to piece it together.

As I scanned through the faces of the team, a sudden realization hit me like a ton of bricks.

What if these people were once my friends, my comrades in arms?

What if I had fought alongside them just a few years ago?

Panic and confusion set in, and my heart rate increased rapidly. I clutched the papers in my hands tightly as if holding on to them could give me the answers I so desperately craved.

But as I looked through the pictures, memories seemed just beyond my grasp. It was like staring at a stranger's face, unable to shake the feeling that there was something more to that.

And as the sunlight kissed my face, with a heavy sigh, I closed the folder, feeling the weight of the hole in my chest once again.

I knew I had to keep searching for answers, no matter how painful or confusing it may be. But for now, all I could do was watch the sunset and hope that one day the missing pieces of my life would fall into place.

Soap, Price, Simon, Gaz, Alejandro, and Rudy sat quietly on the helicopter. They were on their way to the enemy's location, where they knew they would fight against someone they once knew and trusted.

The tension in the air was palpable, and despite the helicopter blade noise, the only sound was their heavy breathing. Everyone was lost in their own thoughts and worries, but Simon seemed the most uneasy of them all.

His heart pounded in his chest, and his palms were slick with sweat. He couldn't wait to finally meet me, the person they had been sent to capture. But at the same time, he was afraid of what the encounter after so many months would bring.

"I know this is not what any of us wanted, but it's what we have to do" Price broke the silence, his voice low and tense.

"But how can we fight someone we once fought alongside?" Alejandro chimed in.

"We only have to capture her" Price replied, his voice full of worry.

"We're gonna need to be careful, though. She's a damn good soldier. We can't underestimate her as we don't know what kind of mushrooms they have been feeding her" Soap commented, trying to lighten up the mood before the hour of my last doom.
