Part 30

Dec had a very,restless,uncomfortable flight,constantly worrying about what he would find when he reached the hospital in Dubai and not even being sure if his mother would even still be alive by the time he got there.

He tried desperately to fight back the tears.

The last thing he wanted,was to be seen crying on a plane by members of the public,so he got out his eye mask and reclined his seat.

Then if anyone noticed his presence they would just think he was asleep,he certainly wasn't in the right headspace to make polite chit-chat with anyone right now.

Eventually,he arrived in Dubai and made his way straight to the hospital.

"Dad" he cried upon spotting Fonsey in a waiting area.

The two men fell into each other's arms and held on tightly,no words were necessary,they both understood how the other was feeling.

"How is she?" Dec eventually asked,as they both sat down.

"She's in surgery right now" Fonsey informed him "I've never prayed so hard in my life"

Dec nodded in understanding as he had been doing exactly the same.

"I'm glad you're here son" Fonsey smiled "this stuff isn't easy to deal with"

"No,it isn't" Dec nodded "it wouldn't have been fair to leave you on your own,I wanted to be with you"

"You're a good boy Dec" Fonsey smiled.

"I do my best" Dec replied and laid his head on Fonsey's shoulder,who in turn kissed his forehead.

"I wonder if the other's will come" Fonsey pondered.

"I know they want to" Dec replied "I promised I'll keep them informed of what's going on,I just want to get Mum home as soon as she's recovered"

Neither of them wanted to say it out loud,but it had crossed their minds that Anne might not be well enough to travel home anytime soon...if ever.

"Oh shit" Dec suddenly exclaimed.

"What is it?" Fonsey asked concerned.

"I was supposed to call Ant to let him know I'd arrived safely" Dec frowned.

"Do it now then" Fonsey suggested.

So Dec called Ant and it wasn't long before the two of them became very emotional.

Ant had by now developed a very special relationship with every member of Dec's family,especially Anne,they absolutely adored each other and Anne wanted Ant to be a part of their lives forever.

"Give my love to your parents" Ant said tearfully.

"I will" Dec promised "I miss you"

"Miss you too baby" Ant replied.

Even though they hadn't even been apart for a whole day yet,this was a lot different than when Dec was on tour,this was much harder.

It was an extremely difficult time and Dec wondered if he'd done the right thing by insisting Ant stay at home to look after the dogs.

There was nothing he would have loved than to have Ant at his side right now with his loving arms and supportive words.

"I love you so,so much" Dec whispered.

"Me too" Ant replied "and we'll be back together real soon,you concentrate on your mum and bringing her home"

"I'll do my best" Dec smiled through his tears.

"How is he?" Fonsey asked after Dec ended the call.

"He's okay" Dec nodded "he's just worried about me...and Mum"
