A week has passed since the race in Australia. I went back home and so did everyone else. We had a three week gap between Australia and the next race. I spend the week alone, just chilling around my house. Charles and I texted a couple of times but it was clear that he didn't want anything more than just sex. So I guess I lost Lando and gained nothing. Life with Lando was way more exciting than my life. No one was visiting me or checking up on me, except for my sister. She wanted to come over today, which was actually surprising. She really got her shit together ever since that barbecue. She stopped drinking and started modeling again. I was actually excited to spend time with her, also because I needed some company.
Not much later she was sitting on my couch. She looked amazing and healthy. I was happy for her. "So what have you been up to lately?" I asked as I looked at her. "I had a modeling job yesterday. It was so much fun" she said as she grabbed the glass of water in front of her. "Oh yeah? That's amazing. For what company was it?" I noticed she was a bit hesitant. It seemed like she didn't really wanna tell me. "Quadrant" she softly said. Now I understood why she didn't want to tell me. I just looked at her for a minute. "So Lando asked you to model for him?" She sighed a little. "You make it sound like it was only him. He asked me to model for Quadrant yes" I just nodded. I felt a little jealous that she got to spend time with him. "How was he? Was he alright?" She nodded in response but I could feel like she wasn't telling me everything. "So everyone was there?" I continued my interrogation. "Yes, everyone from Quadrant and some other people" she quickly took a sip from her drink. I frowned. "Not Millie right?" I would actually kill him if he invited Millie to replace me. He knew how much I disliked her, not that he still owed me something but it would still be kinda fucked up. "Calm down Avery. You cheated on him and you still expect him to not invite people because you don't like them?" It was she was reading my mind right now. "But no, it wasn't Millie. Lori and Scott were there too" Lori and Scott? Why would they be there though?
It annoyed me, he was trying to steal my friends and family away even if he knew I almost had no people left in my life. "Is he in England still?" I asked and she nodded. "I think he's staying for a couple of days before returning to Monaco" great, I was definitely gonna pay him a visit.
Sienna was looking around when I noticed the hickey on her neck. She didn't have a boyfriend, or did she? I never really asked her about her love life. "Who's that from?" I pointed at my neck and pointed at hers. She quickly put her hand on her neck and grabbed her phone to look at it. "Uh you know, just some guy I met at a party" she chuckled. Yes I definitely knew how that goes. One moment you're laying under him naked and the next one you're cuddling every night in different countries. Lando was that person for me. He made me soft again, he made me believe in love but the old Avery came back when I met Charles. The Avery that didn't believe in love or kisses but just wanted to have extremely hot sex without the feelings.
And in that moment it hit me, I knew why I did what I did. Not because Lando wasn't giving me enough, it was because he was giving me everything I've never had. I ran before he could break my heart. I broke his heart just to protect mine.
