Prompt: While reading a scary book, you realise that you're a character in it.

Sarah loved reading scary books. She loved the thrill of being scared, the rush of adrenaline that came with every turn of the page. So, when she picked up a new book at the library, she was excited to dive in.

The book was about a small town that was haunted by a malevolent spirit. As Sarah read, she found herself drawn into the story. The descriptions were so vivid, she felt like she was there in the town, experiencing everything firsthand.

But as she read on, something strange began to happen. The more she read, the more she began to feel like she was a character in the book. She started to recognise the names of people and places, and she couldn't shake the feeling that she knew these people, that she was one of them.

The feeling grew stronger and stronger until she couldn't deny it any longer. She was a character in the book. She was living in the town that was haunted by the malevolent spirit.

Suddenly, the book took a terrifying turn. The spirit had possessed one of the townspeople, and it was now hunting down the other residents, one by one. Sarah knew she had to do something, but she didn't know what.

She tried to warn the other characters, but they didn't believe her. They thought she was crazy, that she had lost her mind. But Sarah knew the truth. She knew that the spirit was real and that it was coming for them all.

As the night wore on, Sarah found herself face to face with the possessed townsman. She could feel its cold breath on her neck, hear its evil laughter in her ear. But she didn't back down. She stood her ground, and with a sudden burst of courage, she banished the spirit back to the underworld.

The town was saved, and Sarah was hailed as a hero. But as she closed the book and looked around her room, she couldn't help but wonder. Was it all just a story, or had she really been a character in that haunted town?
