Prompt: Which Halloween monster (ghost, vampire, werewolf, zombie, mummy, etc.) do you think is the scariest? Why?

Once upon a time, in a small town nestled deep in the forest, Halloween was fast approaching. The townsfolk were excitedly preparing for the festivities, decorating their homes with spooky decorations and planning their costumes for the big night.

But admit the excitement, a sense of fear lingered in the air. Rumours had been circulating about a terrifying creature lurking in the woods surrounding the town. Some said it was a ghost, while others claimed it was a vampire or a werewolf. No one knew for sure what it was, but everyone was afraid.

As the night of Halloween approached, the fear among the townsfolk grew stronger. Parents warned their children not to stray too far from home, and many people chose to stay indoors and lock their doors.

But despite the warning, a group of curious teenagers decided to venture into the woods in search of the creature. Armed with flashlights and a sense of adventure, they set out into the dark, misty forest.

As they made their way deeper into the woods, they heard strange noises coming from all around them. Leave rustled, twigs snapped, and eerie moans filled the air. Suddenly, the saw a figure looming in the distance, and their hearts skipped a beat.

It was a mummy, wrapped in ancient bandages and shrouded in a thick cloak. Its eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and its bony fingers reached out towards the teenagers.

The group froze in terror as the mummy slowly approached them, its raspy breath sending chills down their spines. They tried to run, but their legs felt like lead, and they could barely move.

The mummy slowly raised its arms, and the teenagers prepared for the worst. But instead of attacking them, the mummy let out a low, mournful moan and disappeared into the night.

The group stumbled back to town, shaken but relieved to be alive. They recounted their harrowing encounter to the other townsfolk, and soon the story of the mummy became the talk of the town.

In the end, it wasn't the ghost, vampire, or werewolf that proved to be the scariest monster on Halloween night. It was the ancient mummy, awakened from its slumber and seeking revenge on the living. And even though the town never saw the mummy again, the memory of that terrifying encounter stayed with them for years to come.
