Prompt: All of the cemetery's graves are now open, gaping holes - the dirt pushed out from underground.

The small town of Maplewood had always been a quiet and peaceful place, but that all changed one fateful night. As the moon rose high in the sky, a strange energy seemed to fill the air. It was as if the very earth was alive, pulsing with an otherworldly power.

The first sign that something was amiss came from the cemetery on the outskirts of town. The ground began to rumble and shake, and soon the dirt began to push up from underneath the graves. At first, it was just a few here and there, but it soon became an unstoppable force. All of the cemetery's graves were now open, gaping holes - the dirt pushing out from underground.

The townsfolk were understandably terrified. They had never seen anything like this before, and they had no idea what to do. But as they watched in horror, something even more disturbing began to happen. The dead began to rise from their graves, their rotting bodies stumbling forward into the moonlight.

At first, the townsfolk tried to fight back, but it was no use. The undead were too strong, too relentless. They seemed to be driven by some unseen force, an insatiable hunger that could not be satisfied. And so, the people of Maplewood were forced to flee, abandoning their homes and their lives in a desperate bid for survival.

For weeks, the undead roamed the streets of Maplewood, feasting on whatever living flesh they could find. It was a nightmare come to life, a living hell that seemed to have no end. But eventually, the townsfolk came up with a plan. They would gather together and make a final stand against the undead horde, refusing to go down without a fight.

And so they did, battling the undead with all their strength and determination. It was a brutal and bloody fight, but in the end, the townsfolk emerged victorious. The undead were defeated, their bodies burned and buried deep beneath the earth.

But the memory of that terrible night would never leave the people of Maplewood. They would always remember the horror of the cemetery's graves, the gaping holes and the rotting corpses that rose from them. And they would always be grateful for the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought to save their town from the undead menace.
