Prompt: What is something that used to scare you but no longer does? Why was it so scary?

When I was a child, I used to be terrified of thunderstorms. The loud crashes of thunder would shake the windows of our house, and the bright flashes of lightning would light up the entire sky. It was a terrifying experience for me, and I would always hide under my bed covers, clutching my stuffed animals tightly.

As I grew older, my fear of thunderstorms began to fade. I started to realise that thunder and lightning were just natural phenomena, and that they were actually quite beautiful in their own way. I began to appreciate the power of the storm, the way it could transform the sky into a swirling mass of dark clouds and bright flashes of light.

One day, when I was in my early twenties, a thunderstorm rolled in while I was driving home from work. I pulled over to the side of the road and watched in amazement as the storm raged around me. The rain pounded against the windshield, and the lightning lit up the sky in brilliant flashes of white and blue. It was an incredible sight, and I felt a sense of awe and wonder that I had never experienced before.

From that day on, I was no longer afraid of thunderstorms. Instead, I welcomed them as a beautiful display of nature's power and majesty. I realised that the things that once scared me were not so scary after all, and that I had the power to overcome my fears and embrace the world around me.
