Prompt: Had I known I was going to have guests at 4am, I would have tidied up.

It was a quiet night, and I saw sound asleep in my cozy bed. Suddenly, I was awakened by the sound of my doorbell ringing. I looked at my clock, and to my surprise, it was 4 am! Who could possibly be at my door at this hour? I quickly got out of bed, put on my robe, and stumbled to the door.

As I opened the door, I was greeted by three of my old friends from college, whom I had not seen in years. They were standing there with big smiles on their faces, looking as if they had just won the lottery.

"Hey, we were in the neighbourhood and thought we'd stop by," one of them said.

I was shocked but happy to see them. However, as I looked around my living room, I realised that I had no cleaned up at all. My house was a mess, with clothes scattered about and dishes piled up in the sink. I had left everything as it was when I had come home from work the day before.

Had I known I was going to have guests a 4 am, I would have tidied up. I felt embarrassed and wished I had at least made an effort to clean up. But my friends didn't seem to mind at all. They walked in and made themselves at home, complimenting my place and saying how much they loved the "lived-in" look.

We spent the next few hours catching up on old times, reminiscing about the good old days and laughing at our silly college stories. As the sun began to rise, we realised how late it had become and said our goodbyes.

As I closed the door behind them, I couldn't help but think about how much fun it was to catch up with old friends. I also realised that sometimes, it's okay to let go of being a perfectionist and enjoy the moment. I promised myself that next time, I would tidy up just in case I had unexpected guests. But for now, I was grateful for the memories and the reminder to cherish the important things in life.
