-Sebastian-
Magical Theory was my last class of the day and I arrived late. The only seat was next to Ominis. I groaned and took my seat. Ominis and I had avoided each other since we had fought in the Undercroft. It had been difficult since we were forced to be around each other almost all day every day. I hated the way that things were but I was still pissed he had kissed Ronnie... but I'm sure he was pissed she had kissed me. I couldn't entirely fault him for his actions, but I was still pissed that he had gone behind my back like he did. He knew how I felt about her. I had told him over the summer and he had encouraged me to go for it.
"Thank you for joining the class Mr. Sallow. Next time, be on time. 10 points from Slytherin," Professor Pierce greeted me.
"Will do Professor," I remarked back sarcastically.
"5 more points from Slytherin," he remarked and began his lesson. I groaned. I hated the new Professor. He was a tall, middle-aged man who seemed to be in relatively good shape. He had perfectly maintained white hair and a short white beard. His eyes were dark and his tone was always extremely calloused. He was a friend of the Headmaster and that was enough to make me dislike him. Worst of all he hated muggles, and was another die-hard believer in the ideology that pure bloods were superior. Professor Figg was a million times better than this pompous windbag.
"Good work Sebastian. We'll be negative points at the end of the year if you keep up like this," Ominis remarked quietly.
"I'm sure he loves you, Mr. Gaunt. So pure, so righteous. Plus he's the Headmasters friend so I'm sure he knows your family," I whispered back. I was surprised to hear him say something so casual to me.
"Well then it seems to be on my shoulders to win us the house cup," Ominis responded. His tone was almost teasing.
I chuckled. "Where would Slytherin be without its heir?"
Ominis laughed through his nose.
"Care to share with the class?" Professor Pierce called out. I resisted every urge to roll my eyes.
Ominis spoke before I could. "So sorry for taking away from the lesson Professor. I was merely filling Sebastian in on our homework assignments that he seems to be behind on. It won't happen again."
"Kiss arse," I muttered under my breath.
"Thank you Mr. Gaunt. Please do so on your own time, in the future," he responded passively and went back to his boring lecture.
"Where would Slytherin be without its heir," Ominis mocked back in hushed tone.
I couldn't help but smile. I looked to see Ronnie watching our exchange with a smile. When she caught my eyes she gave me a hopeful grin. My heart skipped a beat. I hadn't seen her smile in over a week. I turned back to my paper and resumed taking notes, needing to distract myself.
The lecture dragged on and Ominis began nodding off beside me. I nudged him awake as Professor Pierce made his way to our side of the classroom.
I was packing up after class was over and Ominis lingered. When I stopped what I was doing he finally spoke. "I'm sorry, Sebastian," he admitted quietly.
"What?" I asked in shock but also wanting to hear him say it again.
"You heard what I said. I will not repeat it," he quickly responded. So prideful. I rolled my eyes.
"What exactly are you sorry for exactly?" I wondered. Was it just for being an argent sod or was it for kissing Ronnie? I didn't dare say all my thoughts out loud for fear that someone would overhear.
