Well, she clearly wanted to fight with me, and I wasn't one to deny her what she wanted. As soon as I'd bested her I could move on to Finn. His dumb face mocking me as he backed away from his spot behind Ronnie. I felt darkness tug at my mind, my fingers twitching to use my newly acquired magic.

I quickly cast expelliarmus in an attempt to throw her off but she easily defended herself with a cocky smirk. It was almost enough to quell my anger. Almost. Finn's eyebrows were knitted in concern as he watched Ronnie, but I could see past the face he put on for everyone. Behind his manicured expression there was a hunger behind his blue eyes as he watched her.

He's a manipulator. A coward. We can make him suffer. Let his suffering give us strength. For once I agreed with the shadows, but I needed to reign them in. There were so many people watching, eyes fixed on me. The sun was lower in the sky but still shining brilliantly down on us. Any use of my dark magic would immediately be seen.

We exchanged a few spells back and forth, none of them landing when I finally saw my opening and I cast flipendo, spinning her in the air before she landed on her back with a groan.

She pinned me under a challenging glare and I couldn't help but chuckle. The tug of my obsidian magic lessened. I let her stand before I cast another spell. She was a very talented duelist, it was the reason I started falling for her in the beginning. Since our first duel Ronnie and I had fought side by side many times. She was quite the amazing witch and an incredible duelist, maybe better than me. I had no intention to really harm her, I've never had any intention of harming her... She's just so bloody stubborn!

Before she was even fully on her feet she made her next move, launching me six feet into the air before pulling me back down.

"Bloody hell..." I groaned. I should have known she'd do that... it was her favorite spell combination.

"Depulso!" I yelled out and she stumbled back. My spell was not as effective when I was still lying on the ground but effective enough to buy me a second.

At least she couldn't use her ancient magic with all these people watching. I would be done for, she could take me down in one move and I'd have no way to defend myself

But you have us now. Her magic doesn't stand a chance. The shadows were very full of themselves, but I couldn't help but wonder what it would look like if we could both go head-to-head with our magical abilities... Did Umbra Dicio even hold a candle to her ancient magic?

Yes, the shadows hissed arrogantly. I wasn't so sure, especially since she had trained with it so much over the summer.

I stood quickly as she cast a few more spells back to back rapidly. Why was she so keen on defending Finn? Was she seriously mad at me? For what? She was the one who decided to go to the ball with bloody Finnian! If anyone had a right to be pissed it was me. She was mine, and she knew that. I felt a familiar hum running along my tattoo, a sign that I was letting my anger get too out of hand.

"Accio!" I yelled angrily. The spell took hold of her, yanking her toward me. She floated just off the ground just enough to be eye level with me. Her face twisted into a smirk as she held my scowl.

"You're being soft on me 'Bash," she cooed with fire in her eyes. "I'll best you for sure if you keep on like that," she baited.

"You want to play for real, Underhill?" I scoffed. She rolled her eyes, and I fought the smile that tugged at my lips. My eyes dropped to her full, rosebud lips, and the anger inside me began to dissipate, replaced with a sinful lust.

"We are witnesses to a true lovers spat, ladies and gents!" Lucan shouted out. I usually like Lucan but right now... he was really getting on my last nerve.
