My lungs felt as if they might simply explode and my body screamed at me to stop as I collapsed on the Quidditch pitch between Holland Oaks and Priscilla Wakefield. All of us nearly dead after the practice that Imelda had just put us through. She must enjoy tormenting us because she ended the practice with having us sprint up and down the pitch.
"Good practice for today! Some of you are falling behind-" she stopped abruptly and I was in no mood to lift my head to see why. As long as she wasn't mad at me, I would not get up, not even a fraction, from this slightly damp grass.
"Reyes!" I heard a voice call out. I knew who it was immediately, and even though my heart had been yelling at me to stop moving mere seconds ago, it leapt at the sound of his voice.
"What do you need Sallow? We're just finishing up practice," She called out dismissively.
"I got the all clear to play again! Just came from the Infirmary!" he shout excitedly.
"There is no way that Nurse Blainey cleared you to play Quidditch just two weeks after getting skewered with an arrow!" Imelda replied.
"I have the note right here!" I sat up slowly and looked at Sebastian waving a paper around.
She grabbed the note from him and read it. "This says that you can tentatively resume normal activity as long as it is not too strenuous" she groaned and stared him down with a look that screamed 'you're a bloody moron.'
"Imelda! Come on! I feel great!" he dropped down and stared doing push ups to prove his point and a few members of the team started laughing at the interaction. "See, I'm fine! Just a little out of practice!"
"Well you missed practice. We're done, just stretching," Imelda said, trying to hide a laugh as Sebastian got up and started doing jumping jacks in front of her with a goofy smirk. "Plus Wakefield is filling in for you." I leaned forward and rested my chin on my knees, watching Sebastian with a grin on my face.
Priscilla raised her arm, still laying down next to me. "I will gladly let him take his spot back," she groaned. "Then I won't have to keep practicing like this."
I, along with the rest of the team, laughed at her.
"You will still have to practice Wakefield, you're the sub," Imelda responded annoyed.
"I'll stay late today, you can see how I do before you make up your mind," Sebastian suggested. "Please... I'm dying to get back to normal life!"
Imelda groaned, considering it.
"I can stay and train with him," I offered.
"They'll be practicing other things," Reggie Malfoy, a 7th year boy, snickered. His comment earned some laughs and whispers from the team.
I felt my cheeks get hot. "Oh piss off Reginald," I shot back.
"Make me," he replied sharply.
I stood in response and stared him down.
He rolled his eyes. "You don't scare me Mudblood," he scoffed.
I sneered at him, and before Sebastian could react Imelda shouted. "ABSOLUTLEY NOT!"
We all turned to her, eyes wide.
"Give me five more sprints Malfoy! I will not tolerate that sort of disrespect on my team!" She yelled. When he hesitated she shouted, "Now!"
He groaned and stood. Imelda returned to talking to Sebastian and Reggie shouldered me. "Whore," he muttered before he took off running, leaving me standing there feeling small. I glared after him and tried to hold my head high. Whore. A whore... me? How dare he! I felt fire rise in my veins but pushed it away. I could light his ass on fire and make him run faster but he was just trying to get a rise out of me, and I wouldn't fall for it. But how did he know that Sebastian and I had slept together? Did everyone know? Or was it just rumor?
