-Sebastian-
"Okay so we finally went to the Restricted Section last night," Ronnie told Ominis. "We found the book that Seb had been trying to remember and there was a secret panel in the back that I could open with my ancient magic! It's a journal by the guy who's tomb we went to with Professor Pierce!"
"That's incredible!" Ominis remarked.
"We haven't read through it yet. We have the book from the Restricted Section because it might have some more information that I missed or simply don't remember," I added on.
"And... I know you're not going to be happy about this but webrought Salazar Slytherin's Spellbook..." Ronnie admitted.
"Why on earth do you still have that even?!" Ominis exclaimed angrily. "I am an idiot for thinking that the pair of you would keep any promise to me about ceasing the dark arts!" He threw his hands up and began pacing.
"Ominis... I have been holding onto it for Sebastian. I haven't even read through it," Ronnie lied for me and a pit formed in my stomach. "Sebastian just thought that there possibly was something about anciet magic in it from when he read it last year."
"I need you two to stop lying to me!" Ominis desperately pleaded.
Ronnie opened her mouth to speak but I cut her off. I needed to stop having her cover for me. "I have had it. The Spellbook. I have read through it Ominis... recently... And to be completely honest with you... I don't have any intention of giving up the Dark Arts entirely. I think that they can be used for good! You know I have felt that way for quite some time!" I admitted, pleading with him to listen and understand for once. "I can't give up the Dark Arts... if I did then everything that happened last year seems...." I didn't know how to finish my thought. I scrambled for the words to describe my emotions but I only found the oh so familiar pit of guilt and grief.
Ominis didn't respond but he did stopped pacing. He for once seemed willing to hear me out. Despite spending all summer together we had never had a conversation like this. I knew Ominis was furious and heartbroken... He knew I was full of self loathing, and I didn't know how to even voice any emotion I had. I couldn't even label them. I had been hollow in my self hatred and depression, but he deserved the truth. Even if it wasn't exactly what he wanted to hear.
"I don't like lying to you Ominis, truly I don't. You are my brother in every way except for blood. I don't want things to be the way they were last year and I really would like to be honest with you, but I need you to not freak out on me every time I do something that you don't agree with..."
Ominis didn't respond immediately, and began pacing in a small circle rubbing his hand on his temple. I looked at Ronnie and she looked as on the edge about Ominis' response as I was. I pushed my hand through my hair trying to ground myself slightly in my nervous energy. He could decide that he wouldn't be friends with me anymore.... And that thought was causing me an intense amount of anxiety.
"Fine," he responded finally.
"Fine?" I asked in shock.
"Fine," he repeated. I searched his face for any more information into what he was thinking. "But I do have some rules."
I chuckled. "I would expect nothing less..."
"You cannot use another unforgivable curse," he said flatly. "Both of you."
Ronnie froze where she stood, her eyes widened at being called out as well. Despite this she remained quite and let us work this out.
"I will not stand by and watch the pair of you become my family. If you both do truly care for me then you will not use another unforgivable curse.... ever again," his voice cracked slightly at the mention of his family. "Now... I cannot threaten Azkaban because... I know that I am not strong enough to send you there but I will never speak with you again... as much as it would pain my heart to do so."
