Trying to find a man who had been intentionally avoiding you was not as easy as it seemed in the stories, this wasnt a meet-cute, in fact it was an all out scavenger hunt. You went from building to building, checking all his regular postings or check ins but found nothing. Growing impatient you took a quick turn down an alley and ran out onto the next street, and thats when you spotted him. His hands were in his pockets and he kicked a rock at his feet as he walked. He didnt look happy and something inside found joy in that, maybe he was realizing the colossal mistake he had made.

"Gennie!" you shouted, the muscles in his back tensed and he stopped walking but didnt turn towards you. Deciding to ignore it you hurried up beside him.

"Morning" he said as if you were just any other citizen which stung.

"Morning, i only have a minute to chat so i need to ask you a favor." you explained.

"Im a little busy right now" he said as an excuse.

"Well good thing i dont need it right now" you snipped but then took a deep breath to calm the fire that was building. "I need you to take the boys for tonight if you can, ive got something i need to do and Kakashi had to go on a mission" you explained.

"What is it you need to do?" he asked, his eyes finally met yours and you could see he was instantly suspicious.

"I wish i could explain that right now but i cant, i should be back tomorrow but might be the day after. Can you take care of the boys for me? They miss you and have been asking about you, guess i wasnt the only one you decided you didnt need anymore" you said trying to joke but the pain you felt twisted the words into something harsher.

"Its not that i dont need you, its you who dosnt need me" he said defensively.

"I need and want you but guess thats what you cant seem to believe, anyways can you?" you asked.

"You shouldnt run off on your own, its not safe" he warned, his hand reached out capturing yours.

"This is something i have to do, i might not get another chance" you explained.

"I just dont want you to get hurt" he explained, his thumb caressed the back of your hand and he looked down at the movement.

"Broken bones heal alot faster than a broken heart but you didnt care about that did you" you said pulling your hand from his. "Ill be back, go spend time with the boys" you instructed before turning on your heal and weaving your way back home.

The whole time you were packing you felt nothing but guilt, you hadnt wanted to be so harsh to Genma. The pain just pushed too hard at you inside, he was hurting but instead of letting you fix it he just retreated and left you both to feel the pain alone. He wasnt wrong about your feelings for Kakashi but that didnt mean that your feelings for him weren't real, they were very real and deep, much deeper in a way than Kakashi's.

Once your bag was packed you paced the house for a minute trying to decide if what you were about to do was either crazy, romantic, or the path to your death. No option felt like it was quite right so you decided to ignore the sickening feeling in the pit of your stomach and set off to the woods behind your house.

The only map you had was the one now stained on your brain from tracing it over and over with your eyes, the landmarks Kakashi dotted with small dots that only he and the others understood. You had watched him mark it and listened so intently as they went over the plan many times, so it was pretty easy to push forward towards your destination.

Being alone in the woods was not easy, being constantly on alert not only for enemies but allies as well. If Kakashi found you out here he would be livid and the idea of that alone made you move from branch to branch in absolute silence. Every step pressing from the wood in the most precise way, the leaves didnt even shake as you landed and pushed away.

Hours passed in the blink of an eye and you adjusted coarse slightly as the hideout came closer, still hours away but now with in range of running into someone much easier. you slowed your pace slightly so that you could watch around yourself more easily.

Dropping to the ground you planned to do the rest of the trip from there, your steps just as careful, missing every upturned root or twig that could give your location away. You were about to cross a small clearing when a familiar voice sounded from ahead and you froze in place so quickly that the the trail of air from behind you whooshed past your now solid form. Your instincts told you to hide but your body was in shock, unmoving except for your eyes that searched for him only resting when they slid from the ground up his body.

"You found me!" Tobi said with an annoying laugh. Your hands immediatly went for your weapons but he disappeared before your fingers could even feel the bite of the cold metal. His entire existance was gone, no smell, no sound, not even the heat from his body could be felt. You knew it was only a trick but the problem is you didnt know the secret behind it, not even when he suddenly reappeared in the most dangerous spot. His hand slid around your throat and pulled you against him.

"Too slow once again!" he teased.  You felt as your feet left the ground the world growing dark before turning into something unlike anything youve ever seen. An endless space stretched out before you of rectangular prisms of all sizes, like broken uneven ground that was also pristine with perfect angles. This place seemed unreal, as if you were trapped in a Genjutsu like no other but something inside said that wasnt correct.

"Where am i?" you asked to the void knowing he had to be in there somewhere with you.

"No where and everywhere all at once" he teased as if it was some fanciful riddle.

"Im not really a fan of riddles, so just tell me" you said turning towards his voice but still finding nothing.

"You should really work at being more fun or i might get tired of playing with you" he said with a fake sad tone.  Everything grew quiet after that, you wernt sure if he was actually gone this time or if he was just waiting for you to apologize. His temperament was so hard to figure out, child like but in moments so scary. Deciding not to wait around and find out you picked a random direction and sprinted off to find an exit.

The terrain was uneven, like going up and down stairs in every direction and never ending. There was no exit in sight, everything was just vast and empty. Your energy eventually gave out, falling to the ground you were drenched in sweat and struggled to catch your breath. The pride inside you knew what had to happen next and struggled like a wild beast to make the words not leave your lips.

"Look im sorry, im ready to be more fun, so please just come back" you called out, the words tasting like vinegar.  You sat there waiting for several minutes and no voice said anything back, your voice didnt even echo back at you in the empty space.

"Hello?" you called.

* Geez its been awhile! Thanks for coming back to read, i really want to get back into writing because it brings me joy. At the same time though its brings me such anxiety, because i never know if what im doing makes sense or is interesting, you would think with all the wonderful people reading i would know that but confidence is a struggle for me. Anyways no promises but im going to try and get back into it, even if it means forcing myself to do it. I wont be perfect in anyway though, ive got a lot of health issues going on that set me back a little bit, but i also got the worlds most joyous news that im going to be a mom! So just trying to take the good with the bad and keep trucking. How are you? i hope all of you are well and healthy and thriving!
