Morning came too soon, but atleast you woke up wrapped in Kakashi's arms. His face nuzzled into your hair, lightly snoring. You wanted to stay like this forever but sadly you had a mission to finish. Quickly getting up you slipped out and into the room next door that you were supposed to share with Sakura. She was luckily sound asleep, crawling onto the other sleeping mat you pretended to be asleep until she began to stir.
Rolling over you yawned and stretched "Good Morning Sakura". Rubbing the sleep from her eyes she got up and walked to the bathroom giving you a gentle wave. With a giggle you got up and began getting ready for the day, Sakura came out of the bathroom just as a small knock was heard at the door. Opening it you were face to face with Sensei, he handed you two small duffle bags filled with clothes. His fingers trailed against yours, sending shivers down your spine.
"These are your disguises, hide what gear you can underneath and leave everything else here." He gave you one last look before heading to the boys room.
You both got dressed quickly into your new outfits, they wernt the most flattering or even the most convenient but you would blend in better. You couldn't imagine not wearing your headband so you tied it tight around your thigh knowing itd be out of sight and secure. Once everyone was ready you met out front of the Inn for Sensei.
"Okay team" he said as he strolled up. "This next part of the trip will be on foot, and we will be traveling with a local merchant to help with the disguise. Everyone needs to be on guard at all times, there is no telling what or who we could run into." He met everyone eye to eye making sure we understand the severity of the situation. He turned and walked over to a nice older man, I'm assuming the merchant we would be traveling with. He signaled for us and our journey began.
The road ahead was just that, a road. Nothing but empty land and giant rocks on each side, we hardly even saw another person, just the occasional traveler. Hours dragged on, our destination isnt even all that far but with traveling at this pace itll take atleast 6 hours. The group was oddly quiet and the boys wouldn't even look at you which you found odd. You decided to pull out the book you had bought.
*time skip*
The team arrived to the small village in which the informant lived. The merchant went his own way to sell his goods, while your team followed Kakashi to the outskirts of town. Coming up on a small home you noticed an older man standing nervously on his porch as if he was awaiting our arrival.
"While I speak with him I want you all to check the perimeter. Remember to be discreet." The team split up in 4 directions covering the surrounding area. You took the direction to the left of the house. There were no trees so you would think itd be easier to spot an enemy but this land was know for it's odd rock formations.
Walking through these pillars of rock was not the most entertaining. Deciding the area was clear you walked up the side of one of the rocks perching at the top to read some more of your book. Time passed quicker than you noticed and it was soon dark. You got up and started walking only to realise you wernt sure which direction the house was, everything out here looked the same. An eerie feeling came over you and that's when you heard the voice.
"What would a pretty little thing like you be doing out here all alone?" Spinning around you found yourself standing before two men in black cloaks, with red clouds. It was none other than Hidan and Kakuzu of the Akatsuki. The mix of fear and excitement inside of you made it hard to swallow. You were terrified knowing in no way could you fight the two of them by yourself, but you were also excited because you had always been intrigued by their group.
" I'm sorry if I bothered you gentlemen, I just came out here to get away and read. I really should be heading back" you took a few steps back not daring to take your eyes off of them.
"Now hold on a minute. Its awfully rude to leave when someone is talking to you." He adjusted the scythe on his shoulder. Knowing your cover was about to be blown you decided to attack first hoping to buy yourself a few seconds to get away.
"Earth style mud wall" quickly doing hand signs you smacked your hands against the ground and a large wall of earth shot up between you and them. With only a second to spare you turned on your heel and sprinted away not daring to look back.
It was like you were in a maze of rocks with no earthly idea of how to get to safety. You couldn't lead them back to the team, thatd only put everyone in danger and the knowledge we had gained by coming here would be a waste. So the only option was to get them far away and hope you can escape to circle back.
"Damn I should've known you were a feisty one little shinobi. Now come back here so I can sacrifice you to Jashin!" Hidan shouted. It didnt take them long to catch up to you. You only had a few seconds to think of a plan. Suddenly a hand wrapped around your ankle causing you to hit the ground hard. Jumping up you got into a fighting stance knowing you didnt have another option. Kakuzu was the one who had grabbed you, he had long grey tendrils coming from his wrist his hand still attached to the end. He slowly pulled his hand back to his body, the tendrils stitching it back on.
"Ah now the fun can begin!" Hidan said with a sickeningly large grin.
"We dont have time for games Hidan, just kill her and let's go. We have the lead for our next bounty." Kakuzu sounded disinterested and inpatient.
"Slaughter is something that takes time and it cant be rushed" he said with a psychotic laugh. He lunged towards you swinging his large scythe, his skill with the blade would make it hard to avoid. Quickly jumping out of the way you released the kunai from under your skirt. He came at you with another large swing, ducking under his arm you stabbed the kunai deep into his back. He screamed.
"Well that hurts! You go and just stab me in the back huh?" He pulls the kunai from his back dropping it to the ground. "I kill as a follower of the way of Jashin. I continue to offer sacrifices to him and I will forever more continue to" he said with a malicious grin.
"I dont care to hear you babble about some weird religion" you spat pulling another kunai free.
"You're seriously calling the way of Jashin weird?? That's a terrible sin, one which you'll pay for with your life" his face suddenly serious.
* So that's it for this chapter I know its leaving on a bit of a cliff hanger but that's the point! Hope you enjoyed the story so far, feel free to leave comments or suggestions!
