"That's pretty much what happened" you said finishing your story.
"So the door was just unlocked and you escaped?" Sakura questioned.
"Yea, I'm guessing they thought my injuries would take longer to heal. I'm surprised I made it, when I first thought of escaping and went to stand I couldn't walk" you said with a shrug.
You knew lying wasnt the best option in this scenario but you couldnt tell them about Itachi without them digging more into the past. Sakura wasnt buying the story and neither was Sensei, Naruto believed it and it looked like Sasuke really didnt care.
"Alright team, you guys head on home, I've got a few questions to ask (y/n) for the Hokage" Kakashi said.
Naruto lunged at you giving you a tight hug. "I'm glad your back" he said with a big grin. Sakura gave you a hug as well and Sasuke gave you a head nod as they left.
"So........ I know your hiding some details from me" your breath caught in your chest at his words. "But that can wait, I'm just so relieved your home" you could see the tension release from his shoulders. You scooted over on the bed, lifted the sheet and patted the spot next to you. He quickly stood removing his vest, shoes and headband and crawled into the bed. He rested his head on your chest and wrapped his arm tightly around you. You held him back and gently ran your fingers through his hair. You could feel him relax more.
Your mind was racing,You knew he wanted more details and it's better to give them on your terms rather than his. The time you got with Itachi wasnt something you would feel guilt about, he was your first love. He was the man you had held out hope of returning for you for many years. The problem is as much as you loved him, being with him wasnt possible and it wouldn't ever be. So now you are faced with another hard decision. Do you pick the forbidden, dominant, yet kind man laying with you? The risk being losing your team, Or do you pick the man that has been there for you through childhood? The man that is sweet and kind, upfront with his feelings, who is willing to fight for you.
For now that decision can wait. For now you needed to give enough of an explanation to keep the questions away and to keep the past safe. With a deep breath you told him what you could.
"It was Itachi that let me go." He adjusted his head to look up at you. "I didnt want to say anything in front of Sasuke"
"I can understand that, but why would he let you go? He murdered his entire clan, he dosnt seem the type to do something like that." He explained.
"We were childhood friends, he was one of the only people there for me after my parents died. Just him and Genma" you felt him tense at his name.
He looked at you for a minute trying to see if there was something more you wernt saying. He adjusted his head laying back down on your chest. "Well if I ever see him again I'll thank him".
He seemed satisfied with what you had told him so you hoped that would be the end of any more questions. It wasnt long until Kakashi drifted off to sleep. You knew he hadn't really rested much since coming back without you, even when ordered to rest your sure he just paced the streets. You drifted off shortly too, dreams filled with thoughts you wished would go away.
You awoke the next morning, Kakashi no longer laying beside you. Stretching you decided to try and stand to help ease the soreness of your very exhausted and hurt body. Everything hurt, your skin felt tight and dry, your wounds were pink and showing signs of leaving large scars. You decided to take a shower, hoping the hot water would ease the pain and clean away the filth. Stripping in front of the mirror you took a long look at yourself. Your body didnt look the same, it looked more mature. You had faced two of the Akatsuki by yourself, granted you would have died had they not been in a rush. Point is you didnt back down. You gave yourself a smile and took the longest shower of your life.
The nurses cam periodically to check your wounds, and charts. They finally decided you were good to go home but would need to come back in a few days. Walking was easier but you still had a bit of a limp so you wernt looking forward to walking home. To your surprise when you left the front door of the hospital Genma was standing there waiting.
"I wanted to treat you to dinner and walk you home if that's okay? I know hospital food is nowhere near as good as Ichiraku" he said with a big smile.
"That would be great!" He took your arm and wrapped it around his and walked at your pace to Ichiraku. He helped you to sit at one of the tables, and you both placed your order.
"You look so beautiful" his words caught you by surprise causing you to blush. "I was so terrified when you came through the gate and collapsed. You felt so frail in my arms, and I felt I couldn't run fast enough. I dont know how far you traveled in that condition but I'm amazed by how strong you are." He reached for your hand across the table gently running his thumb over your knuckles.
"I dont know how I made it either. I just kept moving, I couldn't really run but I somehow knew the way home. When I saw the front gates I couldve cried. I couldnt move or really feel my body but hearing your voice was so soothing. I knew that I was home and in good hands" you wiped away a tear from your eye and gave him the biggest smile you could.
The food came out shortly and you dug in as if you hadn't eaten in days which it kind of had been other than the forced feedings at the hospital. The conversation was light and fun, he didnt pressure you to speak on what happened but also let you know that he would listen if needed. Once finished with food he walked you home. It didnt take long to arrive at your front door.
"Do you wanna come in? I dont feel like being alone just yet." You asked
"Of course, I'd love too" he couldn't help but say with a smile. You both entered the home and sat on the couch.
"Thank you for this evening, and thank you for not pressuring me with questions about what happened. I would be okay with talking about it if you want." You explained.
"Only if you want to, because of course I'm wondering what happened and how you were such a badass" he chuckled.
You started talking explaining the fight between you and the two Akatsuki. His eyes widened as you explained their fighting methods and what happened. He would occasionally ask questions but otherwise he just listened intently.
"I'm upset you tried to take them on by yourself but I know you were thinking of the mission. Occasionally you need to think about yourself though" he said with a stern expression.
"I know it was stupid but the rest of my team even though strong are not ready for a fight like this. It would've been Kakashi fighting them while trying to keep four of us safe and that's in no way a fair fight. He is strong but that's an impossible task." You tried to reason.
"You really are brave, and beautiful. Hell of a combo. So what happened next?" He asked.
You went on to explain how they took you to a hideout and about Itachi. You still stuck away from certain details just explained he helped you with your wounds and helped you escape. His face seemed to change during this part of the story, you could tell he had something more on his mind.
"I'm sure seeing him again was hard for you" his words took you by surprise. You didnt speak just looked at him with wide eyes. He gave a small laugh "I have lived nextdoor to you all my life, and on many occasions I would see him sneak in through your window. I know he was special to you, and you were different for awhile after he left. You loved him didnt you?" He asked.
