Chapter 63

Somedays you sleep naturally while other days it's a struggle, but how do you sleep when tears wont stop pouring from your eyes. Kakashi had held himself together while you poured out your sorrow all night. Asuma wasn't someone you were exceptionally close to but you had developed almost am onery older brother relationship with him. Kurenai however had become a very close companion, she loved the boys and would watch them anytime you had to be away, so thinking of her was breaking you inside.

The first rays of light peeked through the window signaling that it was morning and the journey home was inevitable. Kakashi got up first and gathered all of your things back into your packs and then went to wake the boys. After taking a minute to gather yourself together you went to check on Itachi, opening the door very quietly you could see that he was still asleep. Sneaking in you gently felt his head for fever but he felt cool, his color was also better and he seemed to be resting peacefully.

"Mommy?" a small voice asked from behind you. "Dad okay?" Sakaki asked coming into the room and grabbing your hand, he tried standing on his toes to see Itachi in the bed. You reached down and picked him up, resting him on your hip.

"Yes I think Dad is okay, he was just so excited to see you that he ran really fast so he is just tired" you whispered to him and planted a kiss on his little forehead.

"Daddy said we have to leave" he said pouting.

"I know, we need to go home because one of Daddy's friend got hurt" you tried to explain.

"But stay!" he urged getting upset, his tiny sniffles breaking your heart.

"No need to cry" Itachi said taking you both by surprise. He sat up in his bed and combed his hair out of his face with his hands. He reached his hands out to Sakaki and you passed him over.

"Sorry we woke you, I was just checking on you and he wanted to come visit" you apologized.

"I was awake the moment you walked in baby crow, I was just enjoying how you had your guard down. So why is my beautiful boy crying?" he asked wiping the small tears from Sakaki's cheeks.

"No leave" he said in between hiccups.

"I don't want you to leave either, I wanted to play with you and teach you things but sometimes things just happen we cant control." Itachi said looking into his sons sad doe eyes. Kakashi lightly knocked on the door at that moment as he stepped in.

"We need to get going if we want to make it home in time" he had his eyes cast downward as if he felt bad for interrupting.

"Okay........ Sakaki say goodbye and give Dad a hug" you instructed.

"Wait I'll come walk you out" Itachi said, he groaned slightly as he sat up but he made it to his feet. He held Sakaki and followed you outside, you purposely walked at a slower pace and stayed close to him incase he lost his strength. He made it to the door fine and didn't seem to be struggling much.

"Yuki will you say goodbye to Itachi?" you asked as you all stepped outside and stood in what would be the front yard.

"Goodbye Daddy Itachi, sorry you sick" Yuki chirped giving him a wild wave. Kakashi gave him a simple nod and glanced at you before they made their way to the edge of the field to wait for you.

"Okay Sakaki now you need to tell Dad goodbye" you gently ran a hand down his hair.

"Bye Dad" he said still very sad.

"Don't be sad, I promise this wont be the last time you see me, I'll find you in another life. I'm going to tell you something that you wont remember but I know Mommy will remind you. I love you very much and even when I'm not there I will always be with you. You are going to grow up big, strong and very talented and I know you will be a better man than I ever was. Always take care of Mommy and your brother, keep your brother close and always be his best friend. Ans lastly if you ever get to meet your uncle Sasuke, make sure to give him a hard time and have him teach you everything he knows okay?" Itachi said. You knew he only said all this now because it was likely they would never meet again and that broke you inside.
