Episode 12c: Lottery

Episode description: Later in town, Ryōuta and Kazumi test their luck at the district lottery.

It was a slow day in the city. Christmas decorations were up for the season. Yuki, Megumi, and Aihara were walking down the street.

"Wow, there's so many people!" Yuki said.

"It's almost Christmas, isn't it!" Megumi said.

(Meanwhile...)

Ryouta, Kouji, and Tsubasa were standing in front of the district lottery. Ryouta began his turn at the drawing lot, spinning it as fast as he could, and drew out a red marble.

"Here. Consolation prize." The vendor said, handing out a pack of tissues.

The vendor was a brunette girl, wearing a Christmas themed dress, and a Santa hat.

"That was my last chance too..." Ryouta said in defeat, taking the pack from her. "I didn't have enough spirit, huh?"

Ryouta put the other pack in his pocket along with three other packs from his previous three attempts.

"Too bad, Ryouta." Tsubasa said, feeling bad for him.

"Next is my turn, isn't it?" Kouji said, as Ryouta stood back. "Ryouta, I'll show you what it means to truly have spirit."

"What?!" Ryouta said, shocked.

"Lotteries are all about technique!" Kouji said, as he spun the drawing lot.

Unfortunately, his technique didn't work. He got a consolation prize just like Ryouta.

"Here. Another consolation prize." The vendor said, handing out a pack to Kouji.

Kouji took the pack and put it in his right pocket with another three.

"That's another what again? What a great technique you've got." Ryouta said, sarcastically.

"Then this time it's my turn." Tsubasa said, stepping up. "You two shouldn't get all heated up about a lottery. Just enjoy it!"

Tsubasa took his turn, and got another red marble.

"Welcome to the consolation prize club!" Ryouta said.

"With that, you're one of us now, Tsubasa-kun!" Kouji said.

Tsubasa blew his nose with one of the tissues.

"Ah, that felt good! Just what I wanted!" Tsubasa said, relieved.

Ryouta and Kouji were a bit shocked from Tsubasa's reaction.

"Well, at least it's better than going empty handed." Dillon said, as he and the others joined the guys.

"Oh, hey Dillon." Tsubasa greeted.

"Strange. Even though it was the same consolation prize..." Ryouta said.

"What's this sense of defeat?" Kouji said.

"Are you guys bummed out with your consolation prizes?" Sora asked.

"Yes." Ryouta and Kouji said, lowering their heads in defeat.

"How pathetic." Yuki said, as the guys turned to the girls. "Heh. I saw all of it."

"Why are you girls...?!" Ryouta said, in panic.

"Girls, stop bullying Ryouta." Kairi said.

"Sorry about that, Mrs. Hikari. But we have tickets, so the three of us came to play!" Megumi said.

"So did we." Stella said. "But we don't know if we'll play or not."

Morro nodded in agreement with his sister.
