"Mom, please."

"Stop, please mom. It hurts."

"I'm sorry, I won't do it again."

"It hurts so much. Please."

No matter how hard the little girl cried, no matter how much she pleaded, her mother wouldn't give in. She stood before her daughter, a wooden cross raised above her head, using it to repeatedly hit her little girl.

Behind her stood a man, not much older than her, reading in the Bible, asking the Lord to pardon the mistakes his daughter did as she didn't know any better. She was only seven years old. Young Diana didn't listen to him, she heard these words already hundreds of times.

After a while, she stopped trying to resist their punishment and kept quiet. Still, her whole body was shaking as sounds of immense pain left her lips.

When it was over, the adults left her unconscious, bruised, bloody body lying on the floor and left for their evening prayers.

The little girl only woke up in the morning to women in white clothes bathing her, getting rid of the blood and dirt that stained her battered body.

Those women were her other moms. Like her biological mother, they were married to the all knowing holy son Joseph - the man who lead the ritual the night before.

They were all a big family with many children. Most were Joseph's own, but some - like Diana - were brought into this family by the woman he converted. Even so, everyone was equal to each other.

The family was living in the outskirts of Texas, far away from every bigger city. They basically had their own little village that no one was allowed to enter. Everything was built by themselves, most women who came had jobs or husbands that taught them the required knowledge to do that.

What no one there knew was that their little commune was far more suspicious to the police than they would have thought. To the villagers, living like this was normal, no one thought that a man married to over 30 woman was strange or weird, he was the son of the holy father after all.

So when one morning several police units arrived with a warrant, no one thought that they would find anything... or that they would arrest their leader and guide, taking away their only chance to ever rise to heaven.

And what Diana didn't expect was that she would be separated from all her siblings, mothers and her father because there was no one to take care of her. The police thought they set the woman free, but they were wrong. After all what happened, the people were still prisoners to their own toxic beliefs.

"Diana?" A young officer approached her. "We found your biological father. He agreed to take you in."
